A red message flashes brightly on my television screen. It says '5 minutes until internet breach is activated'. I'm confused at first, and then immediately remember the rumors spreading around social media's this week. Donald J. Trump was going to destroy net neutrality.
I quickly opened my phone and went to snapchat, going to message '💝'.
"it's happening, is it on your tv too?"
"Yes. I'm scared."
"i think we all are a little. just remember i love you. we will meet soon, i promise💝"
"I love you more."
My phone quickly took me out of snapchat as soon as I sent that message. Confused, I tried opening it again only seeing a bright yellow picture displaying the words, "Snapchat is now only 5.99 a month! Pay now while it's on sale!"
I checked Instagram, Netflix, Pinterest, Timber, and Twitter; it was all displaying similar messages.
Is this it? Do we just accept this and give up our rights? Do we not fight for what we should already have?
