Chapter 2: Devie

Evie's POV
I was in the kids' playroom when Doug called us to the dining table for dinner. I love Doug, he's such a good husband and father to Elana, Daniel and Ellie.
"Dinner tonight is macaroni and cheese, your favourite!" Doug exclaimed.
"Yummy yummy! Thank you daddy! " Daniel said excitedly. He couldn't even wait to dig in.
After dinner, we all sat in the living room, talking about our day. It was 7.30pm and it was time for their baths. One problem, Daniel hates his bath time.
"Daniel, time for bath. I know you don't like it but you need to be cleaned." I said to my now grumpy Son. Daniel ran towards the backyard. "Daniel! Come back now or... " "I'll handle him, you take Elana and Ellie to the bathroom upstairs." Doug cut me off. He kisses my on the cheek before heading to find Dan.
I bathed Elana and she even helped me with her little sister which was nice to see. As I dressed Elana in her pyjamas, I heard wailing and crying from what seems like a three year old boy. "Mommy, why do you look worried? Is it about Dan?" my 5 year old asked, she's so mature for her age I can't believe it. I nodded my head. "Don't worry mommy, daddy will take care of him." she replied.
I dried Elana's hair and got her a hairbrush. I started to dry Ellie's hair. Once I was done with Ellie and Elana was done brushing her hair, we went to the master bedroom where Doug is with Daniel.
Doug was dressing Daniel in his pyjamas. It was now 8pm and time for the kids to go to bed. Early, I know but they have a play date with Mal, Jane, and Lonnie's children so I want them to have enough rest.
"Time for bed!" I said. I brought Elana into her room and gave her a kiss goodnight and I tucked her into her bed. Doug brought Daniel to his bedroom. I was going to check on the boys, however I noticed little Ellie was already asleep in my arms. I went to her room, placed her in her bed and kissed her goodnight. As soon as I reached the master bedroom, I crashed on the bed. I was really tired from running around, chasing Daniel.
"Tired?" Doug came and cuddled next to me. I nod my head sleepily. Doug pulled the covers over us and I snuggled up to him, whispering, "Thank you for being the best husband ever. I love you." As I drifted off to sleep, I heard a voice saying "I love you too."
I can't believe this is my life now...
