Chapter 7-Awkward Car Rides

Calum's P.O.V:

I got up earlier then usual, putting on a sweatshirt and black ripped skinny jeans, throwing on some converse and running a hand through my hair. I ran downstairs and quickly grabbed some bread, putting into the toaster before going to my bag and slinging it on my shoulder, throwing my lunch into the front pocket.

"You seem to be in a rush this morning" I hear my mum say as she walks out from the hallway, fully dressed as she looks at the watch on her wrist. "You're early too.. what are you planning hun?" She asked and raised her eyebrow, giving me the mum look. The toaster popped and I took the bread out, hissing a little when it burns my fingers. I took out the Vegemite and started spreading it on the hot bread.

"I'm picking up a friend for school, she left her bike at school yesterday so I'm giving her a ride" I say, taking a bite out of my toast.

"She?" She says, her face turning from the mum look to excited, I can see the excitement bubbling in her eyes.

"Mum.." I say in a whiny voice once I finish my toast and she just smirks, starting to make herself a cup of morning coffee. "Aaanywayysss, I have to go now, I'll see you afterschool" I say and walk up to her, kissing her on the cheek. "love you"

"I love you too munchkin" she says and I smile, walking out the front door after grabbing my keys off the counter. I walked down the driveway and opened my car, getting in and starting it up. I drove over to Kat's house since she lived pretty close anyways and walked up to the door.

I was about to knock when I heard a voice from inside that was unfamiliar.

"I know but you can't meet him! He probably isn't going to come over anytime soon anyway and it's not like I can just let him see you, it's more complicated then that and I don't want him or any of them to go through that" I hear a female voice say and I listen, confused about whatever they were talking about. I knocked on the door and the voice stopped, footsteps seemingly coming towards the door.

The door creaked open and a familiar green eyes peeked from the crack in the door. Her eyes widened in realization when she saw me and the door opened wider, letting me see her full body.

See was wearing a Green day shirt with black ripped skinny jeans and combat boots. She looked up at me and smiled.

"Hey, I thought I'd give you a ride in today if you were okay with it since I kinda left your bike at school yesterday" I said and she looked surprised but nodded, smiling slightly. She opened the door wider, motioning me to come in. I walked in and looked around the slightly small living room.

There was a setup of couches with an empty space in the middle and a T.V on the wall and just to the right of the living room was the kitchen, a small room with an island in the middle. There seemed to be a hallway going down to what I assume is the guest bed/bath room and stairs going to her and her parents room. It was cozy and welcoming, I loved it.

"I love your house" I said and she signed 'thank you'.

'i just have to brush my teeth and then I'm ready' she signed and went to what I assume is the bathroom. I looked around, seeing some money on the fridge and a note on the counter. I know shouldn't pry but I was really curious so I read the note. It said:

I'm working an early shift and going all day so I won't be home 'till around midnight tonight. Don't wait up, I saw you didn't use the money for pizza last night which means you didn't eat. I'm really worried about you not eating and it's making you really unhealthy and weak. The boys are catching on too and I know if they find out they will get really mad at you. Pleeaasseee order pizza tonight and eat at lunch! Also, feel free to invite the boys over for a sleepover tonight. I love ya,
