"I can't believe you didn't talk to her man! That was gods way of telling you to talk to her, and you just turned away from her?!" Max ranted.
"Max! You know I can't talk to girls! Especially when I like them! I stutter and forget everything, it doesn't help that shes beautiful!" I replied.
"I just can't believe you didn't take that chance dude" Max said while shaking his head.
"Oh really? Have you told Amanda that you like her yet?" I asked with a smirk.
One thing you should know. Max has been crushing on this girl named Amanda for almost as long as I have been crushing on Mya. Amanda used to be a part of Mya's popular group but when they got in a fight Amanda left and got new friends.
"N- no, I'm uh waiting for the uh right time" Max stuttered.
"Yeah okay! You're just as scared to tell Amanda as I am to tell Mya!" I teased.
"Whatever man" Max mumbled.
"Well I should probably go inside" Max said as we arrived at his house.
"Yeah, bye dude" I said as I continued to walk towards my house.
Max and I only lived 5 houses down from each other, ever since I moved here in grade 1, I guess that's why we have such a strong friendship.
When I arrived home I went straight up to my room. I threw my bag on the ground and flopped down on my bed and let out a sigh of relief. The first day of school was finally over. As I laid there in silence thinking about Mya, my phone made a loud ding. Thinking it was Max, I ignored it. Not even a minute passed and it went off again. I grabbed my phone and saw that it wasn't Max, it was an unknown number. I slid open my screen and read the texts.
"Hey, Spencer right? I got your number from a friend, I forgot my binder at school and was just wondering if you could send me a picture of the rubric for the poetry assignment" "Oh! By the way it's Mya Abrams"
My fingers hovered above my screen, I sat there, frozen in time. I snapped out of it and grabbed my bag to grab the rubric. About 5 minutes after sending the picture, she replied saying "thanks Spence :*".
Okay, first of all Mya called me Spence, and second, she sent me a kissy face. Am I dreaming?
I tried to play it off like that didn't affect me as much as it really did, "No problem Mya:)".
I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop. I began to write my poem based on the rubric. Since all I could think about was Mya during this assignment I decided to go for it, I mean, she has a boyfriend, and she'd never expect me to write about her.. right?
"Spence! We're home!" I heard my mom yell.
"I bet he has a girl over!" I heard my younger brother yell.
"Ross! Spencer doesn't get girls, that's why he has his hand" I heard my older brother shoot back.
I walked over to my door and yelled down to my older brother "Tristan stop being such an asshole"
"Oh but Spence it's the truth" He answered with a grin.
I gave him the finger and turned around, slamming my door in the process.
"Have fun with your hand!" Tristan yelled up to me.
I rolled my eyes and sat back down at my desk. I began to write more lines to my poem. "he is the sun, she is the moon" I wrote. "With nights to light and..." Great. I hit a road block again. I closed the tab and opened up facebook and of course! There was a picture of the one and only Mya abrams kissing her asshole of a boyfriend, Alex. I immediately close the tab and play my music on full volume.
I was interrupted by my older brother knocking on the door and entering. Just before he opened the door he said "you have 5 seconds to put some pants on"
"Shit! Only 5?" I answered jokingly.
"Mom says dinners ready in 5 minutes" he said.
"And you couldn't have come to get me in 5 when it'll actually be ready?" I answered sarcastically.
"We all know it takes you hours to come down for dinner, now lets go smart ass" he said before turning around and shutting the door.
Sighing, I pushed myself off of my bed and walked downstairs. Mom made my favourite, spaghetti and meatballs. When I finished eating I went upstairs and finished my poem for english class. Feeling proud of my work I closed my laptop, and crawled into bed. I played my music and was asleep almost instantly.
