Let me just start from the beginning because if I started now you would be insanely confused. It all started when Jack, Hailey and I were sitting on the couch watching the Eagles football game on Sunday night. But then the power went out.
"Dang it, he was just about to get a touchdown!" Jack said angrily. He got up and walked over to the TV and tried to turn it back on but it was no use.
Hailey, my nine year old sister, got up and looked out the window. She turned to me and motioned me over. I came and looked out the window to see that all the lights that were once on in everyone's houses were now shutting off house by house.
"Jack," I said. "stop trying to fix it. Everyone's power is shutting off."
"What?" He shoved passed me and looked out the window. He was shocked. "Then how are we supposed to finish the game? Do you wanna watch the game, Hailey?"
She nodded, but then reached up and grabbed my hand and held it. She was scared, I could feel it.
We heard sirens in the distance. We all ran over to the window and looked outside to see multiple SWAT cars and almost a hundred or so police cars. The men all came out of their cars and started knocking on a few doors. And that was when we heard a knock on our door.
I walked over, leaving Hailey with Jack, and answered the door to see a man in black and silver heavy armor.
"Yes?" I said to him, trembling.
He showed me a badge that said he was in the SWAT team but really I wasn't going to do anything that would anger him. Then he spoke, "Is your name Jocelyn? Full name Jocelyn Elizabeth Wonder?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"So your twin brother's name is Jack Anthony Wonder and your little sister's name is Hailey Grace Wonder. Am I correct?"
"Yes."
He whistled and a whole crew of policemen came barging into the house. I heard cries for help from the living room and immediately ran over. They had their hands grasped around Hailey and were carrying her out to one of the police cars.
I was screaming, trying to loosen their grip around Hailey but I couldn't. I wasn't strong enough. Hailey continued to cry and scream and try to get loose but the men weren't letting go any time soon. Jack was sitting in a corner in the living room sobbing, but I would go to him in a minute. I wanted to know about Hailey.
"Where are you taking her?" I asked the officer I answered the door to. "Tell me!" I screamed.
He turned to look at me with his cold stare. "She doesn't have the virus."
"What does that mean?" I asked.
"It means you do. And since you are only seventeen, you won't become one if you stay of being too close to a living and breathing one's face. The adults will turn first because they are older than you." He turned to his car and walked away, I knew I couldn't stop him.
I closed the door and ran over to Jack who sat in a corner with his head in his hands. I sat down in front of him a held his hand. "Jack, look at me."
He picked his head up to reveal a bloody black eye. "I tried to stop them from taking her but he knocked me out." He said through tears.
I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed him tight. "We'll find her." I whispered in his ear. "I know we will."

And that's how we got here. On the empty highway to Atlanta. Just me and Jack.
