Noah

I don't know what the hell I just said there. It's like a part of my body just did what it wanted to. I didn't mean to say we were gonna be a thing, I just thought about it. Then, it came out, don't ask me how, it just did. I'm kind of embarrassed or.... I don't even know the feeling. I feel like this is going too quick. Already together? Really? I do t think that's possible. It's not. I wanna keep telling myself that, but it's no use. I already said it. It's done for now.

Lindsey

"So, uh, where are you going tonight?" I ask after we finish our meal.

"Well, I'm guessing Eric thinks I got a ride, so I really don't know. We could always crash at a hotel, or motel, whatever you wanna call it."

"And get separate rooms?" I ask.

"Yeah, sure," Noah says.

We leave our table and start walking down the street to a close place. We see flashing lights and stars in the sky.

"Hey, look," Noah points up to the sky. "It's beautiful."

"Yeah, it is." I look up too.

Now is my time to tell her. This is either gonna work out, or she's gonna punch me in the face and walk away.

"It's beautiful. Just like you." I barely manage to say it.

She stopped walking. She looked me in the eye and said, "Really?"

I look her in the eye. "Yes, really."

10 minutes later...

We walked to the nearest hotel, got two rooms, and relaxed.

When we first came in, I thought it was awkward because the desk worker asked us if we were a couple. I kind of looked at her, hoping for a response. She nodded her head and I looked back at the worker. "Yes, we're a couple."

"And you want one room, sir?"

"No, two please."

It was pretty awkward. He kind of had this look on his face like, what the heck? I'm just glad it's over.

We went to our rooms, but I don't know what Lindsey did. She could've went out into the hallway to get a snack or something, because I didn't see or hear her. I didn't think anything of it, and just went to sleep.
......
I was woken up by someone knocking at the door. It was still dark outside, so I checked my phone to see what time it was. It was almost one in the morning. I got up out of bed and opened the door. Outside was a teary-eyed Lindsey.

"I'm-I'm sorry," she said. "I couldn't sleep thinking about.... things."

"It's fine," I say, welcoming her in. She came in and sat down on one of the chairs I had in the room. I sat down next to her. "So, what things were you thinking about?"

"My parents," she said. "They've been fighting for a while now."

"I'm sorry about that."

"Don't be," she said. "It's not like you did anything." She started tearing up again. "I just got a text saying my dad hurt my mom."

"Really?!" I ask, concerned.

"Yeah, got mad while he was drinking and hit her in the head with a beer bottle. Neighbors heard all the noise and called the police, wondering what was going on."

"Sorry," I say.

"Again, don't be. They said my dad knocked her out, but she's better now."

"That sounds bad."

"Yeah, I guess I just needed to open up to someone." Silence was then made.

"Well, you better get to bed, get some sleep."

She stood up. "Actually, I was wondering..... if.... I could stay with you?"

"Yeah no problem." I said quick. "Which side you want?" I ask.

"Umm, left."

I lay down on the other side and closed my eyes.

"Noah?"

"Yeah."

"Never mind."

"Okay, goodnight," I whisper to her.

"Goodnight."
