Potato Dave's uncle was here. He was pretty cool. And old. Uncle Harry always talked a lot about stuff Potato Dave didn't care about, but that was ok.
Uncle Harry was showing everyone a video on his computer. It was a video of some guy blending glow sticks on a show called "Will It Blend." And they did. All the glow sticks blended. It was pretty cool. The credits rolled. In the background everything got dark and it showed the guy holding up the pitcher of glow sticks pretending to drink them. Then all of a sudden the music stopped and it showed a glowing green skeleton. The man's glowing green skeleton. Sickly smiling and staring at Potato Dave with his dark empty eye sockets. His hand slowly swinging by his side. Potato Dave was frozen in fear. Uncle Harry laughed next to him. Potato Dave ripped his eyes away and ran. He cried. He closed his eyes on out his hands on his head. But nothing would make the image of the green skeleton in his head go away.
His mom gave him a hug. He was still crying. Uncle Harry felt bad. Potato Dave looked around the room. It could be anywhere. In the closet. Under the bed. In the bathroom. Just waiting. Smiling. Staring. Never blinking. Just waiting. Waiting for him.
The magic school bus had some really good VHS tapes. Potato Dave's mom would let them watch the show some times. He sat there with his brother as it started. The scene changed to the classroom, where a skeleton hug on a metal stand. The image flashed back to him. He looked away, covering his eyes. It haunted him. Every day. Skeletons were everywhere. They terrified him.
Nearly three years later, Potato Dave lay in bed. The closet next to him. The image popped into his mind. Still engrained in his memory. It seemed like it would never leave. What if it was there. Behind those closet doors. Just sitting. Staring. Waiting. He buried his face beneath his blankets and turned the other way. Would it haunt him for the rest of his life?
