Russet woke to the sounds of yelling and chaos. Whats going on?! she thought, her eyes wide with alarm as she leaped to her feet, in the process she hit her head on her cage top. She let out a hiss of annoyance. "Russet! Get down!" Russets ears perked and she turned to see Snake crouching. "Why should I?!" She growled back, Snake didn't respond. Russet scoffed. She heard twoleg voices. She wished she could understand what they were saying, but she listened to the tone and how loud the voices were. One was loud, the other was quiet. "What are we going to do?! Cats who fight each other and kill to win? That's unacceptable." Said one as the lights went out, leaving the room in complete darkness. "Its for money!" said the other one "Ugh people will do anything for money. Even letting cats fight each other" said the first. Cats started yowling suddenly. Russet looked around, utterly confused. "Snake is happening?!" She sad to Snake. "I don't know" Snake replied. "You know!" Russet snarled at Snake and he opened his mouth "Earthquake" he said "more twolegs are gathering so that they can take us and either make us fight, or make us house cats" Snake added "Trust me, I've been here since I was a kit I've been through this before, it happens about once in a few years" He finished and Russet growled "Just what we need" she said, clearly annoyed. Escape! Now it your chance, Russet. Just wait for the right moment. She thought and gave herself a small nod, gathering a plan in her mind.

Suddenly she felt the cave drop off place it was on and fell onto the floor. She heard her mother yell her name but she ignored it. She noticed the lock had busted off the cage. Russet's eyes flashed as she slowly put pressure on the cage, but it didn't move. She stepped back and swiped her paw at it, aiming a powerful blow. Once her paw hit it, the small door flung open. Im free! She  thought happily.

She ran out and noticed the twolegs saw, they paused and glanced at each other then started running after Russet. Russet ran through the halls with great speed, the twolegs right at her tail. She ran down the halls which felt like a maze, turning and turning and turning corners only to reveal more corners. She finally stopped and hid along the wall, a corner behind her. With any luck, the twolegs would be stupid enough to search the hallways or just leave. The earth shook again, this time Russet got knocks off her feet. She got to her feel again and twolegs ran past her. She went the other way, this time turning a different way, she knew she was completely lost but she wanted to find the exit to this place she would never call home. Finally, she took one last turn and was greeted with large doors in front of her. Wait... she thought, how am I going to get to the other side of those doors? She looked at them, suddenly feeling small and frail against the looming doors in front of her. "Uhh maybe their light weight?" She thought about and tried to push them open. She growled in frustration and threw her paw at it, this time not caring if her metal claws hit. She cringed at the sound, but looked at it, noticing it made a dent, she did it again and the dent got deeper, her eyes closed. She hated the sound but she knew she had to do it. She clawed at it again and again. Every time she got closer to freedom, and soon she saw light break through a small hole, she got excited and started clawing faster and faster until there was a hole big enough for her to squeeze through, and she did just that. She let out a yowl as some of the metal on the door scrapped her back. Soon she managed to get out of the hole, she turned around and saw a giant building, the one she was in before, but now instead of cold, hard metal floors beneath her, there was soft green grass. She started running away from the place she used to live. She felt free for the first time. She felt happy.

"Im free!" She said happily.
