Y/N Point of View:
"I'm home Jungkook!" I said joyfully setting my backpack down on the counter. I ran over to Jungkook's cage and gently took him out. He weakly sniffed at my hand, and he started snuggling in my fingers.
"Hey little guy," I said petting him gently. "Let's go get your medicine," I said gently bringing him over to the kitchen. I set him down and the old bunny stayed still. I injected his usual medicine into him.
"Such a good boy," I said smiling gently. I've had my little Jungkookie since I was 12. I've always been in and out of the hospital due to my condition, but Jungkook was always there for me.
Jungkook started coughing like he usually does. I know he's getting old but I'm selfish and I can't let him go yet. I wiped tear falling down my skin. "Kookie," I said running my fingers over his furry back.
He started climbing up my arm and onto my shoulder. There then was a ring at my doorbell. I set Jungkook in his cage and went to the door. I opened it slowly.
"Hi Taehyung," I said smiling. Taehyung was this guy I met this year. We are working on a project together, and he's very popular with the girls on campus. "You're house is nice," He said walking in.
I blushed slightly pushing my hair behind my ear. "Thanks," I said softly. "This is my bunny Jungkook," I said pointing to my little furball of black and white.
"Taehyung bent down to Jungkook's level. "Hey buddy," He said with a boxy smile. Then Jungkook coughed in his face. I snorted a bit trying to hold back my laughter.
"N- N- Napkin now," He said covering his face with his hands. I got him a tissue and peeled his hands back. "I'm sorry," I said giggling as I wiped his face. "Guess he doesn't like me," He said pouting slightly.
"Jungkook just gets jealous of people sometimes," I said looking at my bunny.
Flashback:
"This is a bunny," Mom said as she handed me a cage. I was hooked up to the breathing machine. The unsteady beeps of my heart was easy to hear from the monitor.
I smiled ear to ear amazed at the creature. "His name shall be Jungkook," I mumbled softly.
Present Time:
"Anyways let's get started on that project," Taehyung said sadly. He's not the smartest but at least he doesn't pick his nose or scratch his butt in front of girls.
I started typing something into my computer until I heard something from Jungkook's playroom. I turned my head. "Is everything alright?" He asked a worried expression written on his face.
Without answering I ran to Jungkook's playroom. "Jungkook!" I yelled as I saw the sight in front of me. He was coughing blood, and moaning softly from pain.
"No!" I yelled picking him up gently. His little body felt limp in my hands. I heard Taehyung from behind me. Tears rolled down my face as I asked him to drive me to the vet.
"It's okay Jungkook you'll be fixed," I said to my little bunny as I sat down in the car. His nose twitched but his eyes were tired. He was tired.
"Are you okay Y/N?" He asked glancing over at me. He parked in front of the vet. I shook my head. "I think- Jungkook is done fighting," I said so soft it was almost inaudible.
He heard me though and patted my back soothingly. I held Jungkook close to me as we entered the doctor's office. They started running tests and taking ex rays.
"He has a huge stomach tumor on his lower abdominal area," The veterinarian said along with other medical things. I covered my mouth. I looked at my Jungkookie who was laying lifelessly on the metal table.
"It would cost a lot of money to save him, but it's a 50/50 chance he'll live for a week at the most," The veterinarian said writing something down on his clipboard.
"That won't be necessary. I'll put him down," I forced out. He nodded. "I'll prep a room but I'll leave you alone with him and come back," He said closing the door. I broke down.
"Jungkook. You were better than any other friend I've ever had. Whether if I was recovering from a surgery or things were rough at school," I said petting him gently. He nuzzled his head into my hand like he usually does.
"Even after mom and dad died I still had you. I'm sorry for being selfish and letting it get this bad," I said tears falling onto the table.
"We are ready miss," A nurse said. I nodded. I picked Jungkook up. He's gotten so skinny compared to a few weeks ago. I brought him into the room.
"Okay miss so I'll insert a needle into him, and it will feel like he is slowly falling asleep. I nodded my eyes still on my bunny. It almost happened in slow motion as she took the needle and fluids slowly went into him.
Memories of playing with him, feeding him, and sleeping with him went to my mind as his eyes started fluttering. He's tired. His cute little ears started drooping, and his nose stopped twitching.
His little head cuddled weakly into my hand one last time.
"I'll leave you alone now, and we will go over the disposal of the body," She said walking out.
My knees went limp as I fell to the ground. "Jungkook," I whimpered out.
My little Kookie is gone and there is nothing I can do about it.
