Wallflower // Joji x Reader

Senior Year

Today's the first day of senior year, and I've been in love with a boy that doesn't know I exist.

George Miller. Known by our graduating class as Joji. He's not really popular, but just well known by the majority. I fell in love with him since we were in 8th grade. We used to be great friends until Freshman year and he hung out with "cooler" people. Sometimes I can't help but catch his eye in the hall, wishing I had the guts to say "hello" or just wave at him.

God I'm such a loser.

I've been in love with a guy for 5 years and who won't even notice me.

I get to my first couple of classes, fashionably late, and sit in the back. Naturally Joji is in (most) of my classes, like he is every damn year.
This year seemed different. This year Joji didn't walk into the room and ignore me like he did every year before, he actually stopped when he walked into class (10 minutes) late. He gave me a small smile then gave the teacher his pass.

At this point I didn't know what to do, so I smiled back. Like everyday, for the past 5 years, he looks hot: his black hair looking soft as always, faded pink shirt on, black jeans paired with his signature checkered vans. His outfits never matched well sometimes, but it worked for him.

"Hey" he whispered slightly to me as he sat down in the desk next to me, his voice sounding deep and raspy from probably being outside in the cold December air. "Hi" I reply back, trying to keep myself together. I fiddle with the pen on my desk, not looking at Joji to avoid the embarrassment of him seeing me blush. I can see in my peripheral vision that he's still looking at me.

He clears his throat then passes me a note.
hey. write back.
I pick up my pen.
hi.
He quickly responds and passes it back
here's my number (his number) text me later?
I read it and look over to him and nod. He gives me a smile and I put the note in my backpack, freaking out inside.

Why with the sudden interest in me? Does he even remember me? If he does, why does he want to talk to me now?

So may questions that I couldn't answer, but I would hope to get the answer to soon.
