4 Years Later~
Asher's P. O. V.
As I drove home from work, I smiled in the rear view mirror at the small, mint-green car-seat. Today was take you're kids to work day, so obviously I took my absolute pride and joy with me to the office. I work at a telephone marketing office firm, where I direct calls and help people with financial situations. My boss thought today it would be a good way to make all the employees feel more at home, so he rearranged today so we could bring in our kids. His name is Jacob Lee Daniels. He turned one just last month and is already expecting to be an amazing big brother.
His absolutely gorgeous mother is my Mate, Annabelle Lee Daniels. We got married three years ago with the help of her family and mine. Somehow along the way we managed to coexist and become very friendly with one another. With her amazing attitude and gorgeous outlook, she made our families fall in love with us as much as I fell in love with her. Her brothers Jack and James found very beautiful Mates. Kyle ended up falling in love and Mating with Anne's best friend from high school, Alice. Her old boyfriend Josh ended up cheating on her, and that seemed like the last straw for Kyle. They were a little different in age, but a Mate is a Mate non the less. Brandon decided he didn't want to wait around for his love, so he went searching for the beauty of his dreams. And as for our parents? Their getting along like they've known each other for ever.
When I first changed her, it was a very rocky start. She could barely control the Blood Lust. Soon after she learned to control it enough, we found out she had special abilities like me and my mother. She can control your emotions and your thoughts. She can make you see anything she wants, and make you feel anything she wants. She is absolutely stunning and I could never ask for anyone else than the woman that stands by me every day.
We got pregnant on our three year anniversary. We had a 'second' honey moon you could say, and we ended up becoming pregnant within the third night of our stay in the Bahamas. It was amazing yet stressful when we learned about our little guy. With my mind reading and her mind control and emotions changing, we were excited to see what our baby would grow to become. When he was just six months he tried to get the baby food from the table while I had went to get a new spoon. When I turned around, my wife was standing shocked and looking at our son as he moved the baby food off the table and had it floating within the air. From then on we knew our little bundle of joy was extraordinary in all the best ways.
His hair was blonde, just like his mothers. He had her small button nose too. He had my straight hair and my green eyes. He was absolutely perfect. When we found out we were having another child, we were just as thrilled and stressed as the first time round. But lately it's been getting better. Since we were first timers last time, we have a little bit of an understanding of what to do and what not to do. With Jacob we were so cautious we basically suffocated him in safety. But with our next child we promised to go a little easier since we know hat to do. Even though he doesn't understand all the way, we told Jacob about the new baby. Anne put beautiful images in his head of an ultrasound and then him and a new born in our arms. He smiled and giggled away like he understood everything. That was what really made us want to have this next baby.
Our mothers were so excited they planned the next baby shower without even telling us. We have the results for the gender of the baby, but our mothers forbade us from knowing until the party next weekend. Anne is months along and is super excited about having another baby. I am just as ecstatic. My father was very proud of me, but hers was a little angry. He didn't want his baby girl growing up, but he was still very fond of Jacob and would be just as happy with our next child.
I smiled as I began replaying the past few years in my mind as I drove to our home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. We chose to live here because it was where Anne stayed most of her life. She was born here and I feel it was better to put our children in a very memorizing and an emotionally attached environment. Our home was where her aunt used to live. There were so many memories in the walls of this house I had to buy it for her. She didn't even know until we flew down for a night. She cried but it wasn't sad tears. She loved it and that's all that mattered.
As I pulled into our driveway, I noticed the lights were all on, and immediately I knew she was awake an probably working. Anne became a Cosmetologist/Home Designer. She owns her own beauty salon and a wedding decor shop. She runs her salon during the day and plans during every other night. She still does her hair crazy colors. At one point she got rid of her black as tried her natural blonde self. It was different and I liked it. But she didn't, so she ended up going back to black but this time she dyed the ends of them an electric blue. Around twice a year she colors it a different color, from blonde tips to rainbow tips. At the moment she had most of it the original black and the tips are a burgundy red/purple color. She loves hair and she loves design.
I grab my messenger bag from the passenger side and get out of the Mustang. I open the back seat and unbuckle my sleeping baby boy and wrap him up in my arms. With a sigh of exhaustion I trail up the steps and to the front door, but stop myself short when I see the door wasn't just open, but it was as if had been forced in.
I wrap Jacob up a little tighter and lay him softly into my bag so he doesn't wake up. Loosely, I close the bag with the pull over flap and walk into my broken-in house. Tightening my hand around the strap, my eyes strain to find anything that wasn't broken. The furniture was basically in half and wrapped to shreds, most of the pictures on the wall were broken and shattered, the glass coffee table was smashed in with the tiniest bit of blood on some of the shards, and every potted plant was in ruins on the ground. With speed I always had, I searched top to bottom all around the house within five minutes.
Gone.
She was gone.
As I began to panic Jacob began stirring awake and eventually started crying. I took him out of my bag and tried my hardest to put him back to sleep. Finally when he stopped crying, I took out my cell and dialed the one person I new that could help.
"Hello?"
"Mom?" I asked as tears streamed down my face. "I need you..."
"I'll be there in an hour."
With that she hung up. I sat on the broken love seat and rocked Jacob back and forth as I tried to make sense of the situation. I new their was two smells, one my wife and one that was faintly familiar. But who do we know that would take away one of the only people that could make me happy? I kept thinking and thinking until something finally came to mind. He would stare at her like no other person did. He would talk to her in the most creepy ways. Even his thoughts betrayed him as a complete obsessed psycho.
I know who took my Mate...
