A little more than a week had passed, and it was a Saturday. The day of the party. Elliot told me it started at 10:00, and went late. He told me whose house it was at, and I knew the guy. Not well, but I heard he threw pretty big parties.
Elliot said he'd pick me up at 9:40, so that we could find a parking spot.
Over the past week, Elliot and I would sit together in our social class and do most of our work together. He really was a kind guy, and he seemed to like spending time with me.
I almost forgot about Parker, if I'm quite honest. It seemed like ever since I started hanging out with Elliot, he has left me alone, and I really have no idea why.
I looked in the mirror and stared for a while. I wore a yellow dress with short sleeves, and it went down to my knees. I stared down at my bare calves. It was risky for me to not wear anything to cover them up, but Elliot told me that the parties that Ben (the host) threw were always glow in the dark. No one would be paying any attention to my legs, right?
I slipped on some black flats, and put a denim jacket over my dress. My hair was curled, as always, and I put on the same makeup I always do. Well, maybe just a little more this time.
As I looked in the mirror, I realized. The more I look at myself in this stupid piece of glass, the more I would want to cover up. So I turned away, and headed out of my bedroom with my phone in my hand. I had some of my pills in my purse, though I had just taken one.
I headed downstairs, and sent a quick text to my mom. She was still at the hospital, working late. She already knew I was going out, but she always wanted a friendly reminder.
I checked the time. 9:36. As if on cue, my phone buzzed and I saw it was from Elliot.
'Here!'
I smiled and quickly texted him back.
'I'll be right out!'
I let out a quick breath, and smiled to myself. I headed out the front door, and saw a blue 2018 Honda Civic in the driveway. I waved when I saw Elliot look up.
I went over to the passenger side and opened up the door. I got in and buckled up. I noticed there was an odd smell, but I didn't say anything.
Elliot looked over at me and smiled. "Hey,"
"Hey! Thanks for picking me up," I smiled as well and adjusted my clothing.
"It's no problem at all," he added and pulled out of the driveway. As we went down the street, he commented. "You look great by the way,"
My breath hitched and I looked out the window. I didn't want to start crying on my first date just because he said I looked great.
I dabbed my finger underneath my eyes to hide any tears that might've fallen, and then I looked ahead.
We were driving for a while, and I kind of felt a bit nervous in Elliot's car. He was driving kind of weird. Sometimes his car would go faster and then slow down really quickly. He would also get really close to the other side of the road, and would have to quickly swerve back to where he was supposed to be driving. I was so thankful there was absolutely no one driving on this stretch of road. After a while, we stopped in front of a house that I was about thrown off by.
