Tick
"This is all your fault ! She's dead because of you," roars Kendall's mom, the tears long since dried on her porcelain face.
She pushes past Y/N, leaving her alone in the clearing.
It's December; the sky has decided on a bleak gray and the wind bites at her nose. She sighs, pulling her coat tighter around her thin frame.
She stares down, burning a hole into the rock slab engraved with the name that holds her heart.
Kendall Jenner.
Y/N swallows, looking up into the sky in a desperate attempt to hold her tears in. She exhales, allowing the blockade of thoughts to flood her mind.
Tick
"It's your fault, Y/N."
"You shouldn't have left."
"She's gone now."
Y/N shivers as she feels her voice ring in her head, her words bounce off the walls of her skull.
Tick
Y/N snaps her eyes open, turning around and running to their little apartment, 12 floors up, in the center of downtown.
She tears the door open, searching frantically for a piece, a crumb, a speck! Any reminder she could find of her existence with her.
Tick
"Ma'am, you're drunk and we can't allow you to buy any more alcohol," the bartender said, picking up the phone and dialing the woman's favorite list.
Y/N cried; a string of curses spilled out of her mouth as she stumbled out of the bar and struggled to keep herself up."
Tick
The bewildered woman tears through her room, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! It's all my fault!"
Her eyes jerks across the room. A light emitting from the balcony catches her eye and shines through the semi opaque curtains.
Tick
"Y/N slow down! I'm sorry! I didn't want to hurt you," a voice tried to cut through the roar of traffic.
Y/N looked to her right. A car drove parallel to her, the driver being the source of all her pain.
"Leave me alone, Kendall."
She pushed harder on the gas, absentmindedly drifting into the opposite lane. Before she could register what she was doing, the light of an incoming truck momentarily blinded her before an object flew in front of her car, blocking her from any impact.
Tick
Now, she would give anything to be there with her again. To stop and apologize and run back to her. To stop time and be with her, but time was never on their side.
"It's okay Y/N. It wasn't your fault, don't blame yourself."
Y/N stares in awe as he watches Kendall's figure floating in the moonlight, just past the balcony ledge. She creeps forward, climbing on the barrier to reach her.
"I love you, Y/N"
Tick
She watches in horror as the paramedics pulled her body into the emergency room.
She stared, washing to hours away before, finally, a doctor came and sought him.
"I'm sorry, her time has run out. You should go in and say your goodbyes."
Tick
One hand grasps the ledge and Y/N hangs, suspended 12 flights up. Her other hand stretches, struggling in vain to reach the woman's figure.
She stops, suddenly taking in her position.
She looks back at the apartment, to her hand, and to her.
Y/N closes her eyes, breathing deeply.
She opens them again and is met with her smiling face. There she is, so close, yet so far.
Y\N smiles, " I love you, Kendall."
She lets go.
Her time had finally run out.
