SAM

When I first woke up, the first thing that I thought was that I had to be dreaming. I was laying on a sandy part of the ocean floor, and my hands and feet were tied together with sticky pieces of seaweed. Above me, I could see schools of fish of all different kinds swimming around. To my right was a huge clump of seaweed, a lot like the one I had gotten tangled with when I was swimming. To my left,  I saw both Leo and Lily laying down in the same way that I was.

"Guys?" I asked them, frantically, "Do you have any clue where we are, because I don't and this is really freaking me out."

Neither of them moved a muscle.

I was really starting to panic now. There was no way that Leo, Lily and I could have gotten into the places that we were by ourselves. The ocean might have knocked us out or something, but it couldn't have tied us up with the seaweed. Plus, I had probably been under the water for at least fifteen minutes without breathing in a single breath of air. Something really weird was happening.

"Anyone?" I asked, this time calling out to anyone that might be in the ocean, "Is anyone here?"

For a couple seconds nothing happened, but then I heard something rustle in the seaweed clump.

"Aaahhh" I screamed. At that point, I was really scared. I tried to get up and run, but the seaweed piece held me in place.

"Halt, were are you from?" I suddenly heard I child's voice yell at me from the direction of the seaweed. Slowly I turned my head until I was facing the creature that had talked to me. To my surprise, it was a boy. He looked to be around 7 and had a mop of sandy blond hair, brown eyes, and more freckles then I thought it was humanly possible to have.

"I said, where are you from?" The boy asked me again and swam up to me.

"My friends and I here are from the Charter School on the beach."

The boy tilted his head a little as though he was trying to figure out what to say. Then, after a couple seconds of thinking, he said me, "State your Tribe and region." in an official sounding voice.

"My what what?" I asked him.

"Your name and tribe," The boy answered as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"I'm sorry but I have no clue what that is. My friends and I are from the Charter School and we accidentally got lost in the ocean. I live in Salt Lake, in America, I guess that counts as a region, but I don't have a tribe or anything."

"You live in America?" the boy asked me, seeming both surprised and intrigued.

"Yeah"

"You're a human?" The boy asked me this time, making me become extremely confused.

"Yeah," I answer again, a little confused.

Suddenly, the boy thought of something and then asked me, "Do you want me to take you to my tribe?"

"What's that?" I asked. Again, I felt like a was dreaming. I pinched myself, just to make sure.

Suddenly, I heard Lily's voice. "Sam? Where are we?"

"You're awake to?" I ask her.

"I don't know. This isn't a dream, right?" Lily asked me.

"No. It's not." I responded.

"So you guys know each other?" The boy asked us.

"Yeah. I'm Lily, that's Sam, and Leo there is still knocked out." She told the boy, pointing as she explained, "The question though is, who are you."

"I'm Turtle of the Wave Tribe." The boy explained to us.

While Turtle was talking, I let my eyes move over to Leo. I was extremely confused why he hadn't woken up yet. Carefully, I swam up to him and began to shake him. For a couple seconds nothing happened, but then Leo began waking up.

"Where are we?" He muttered, as his eyes slowly opened.

"This may sound weird, but we're under the sea. There's this kid here named Turtle, and he's going to take us to his tribe or something like that. Lily's here too, and we both just woke up a couple minutes ago." I explained, and then added, "And it's not a dream."

It took Leo a couple minutes to wake up and for me and Lily to explain everything that had happened to him, but after that, we were on our way.

"So, where exactly are you taking us?" Leo asked Turtle.

"One of my tribe Elders," Turtle told us. I could tell that he didn't think it was possible not to know what a tribe was.

"And what is a tribe and what is an Elder?" Leo asked, with a note of sass in his voice.

Turtle sighed, and then finally began explaining what was happening, "You guys really don't know anything. I guess I'll have to start from the very beginning," He said

"All of the creatures in the Pacific Ocean are members of the Sea Kingdom. The Sea Kingdom has different regions within it, I think there are five. The one we are in right now is called the Shallows, and it's where most of the Sea-lings live."

"What's a Sea-ling?" Lily interrupted.

"A Sea-lings are the humans who live underwater. They're called Seas for short." Turtle explained. "Anyway, the Seas all are part of one of the eight sea tribes. Each tribe has a different part of the ocean that they occupy. Some of them have alliances, and some are at war."

"Which one of them are you part of?" I asked.

"I'm in the Wave tribe," Turtle told us, and then paused for a moment, "We're almost at the tribe now. You guys will need to wait outside of our village until I bring one of the Elder's over here. Because we're at war with one of the tribes right now, no one is allowed in without an Elder's permission. We wouldn't want a spy or intruder to get inside of our village."

As we continued to swim, I noticed Turtle getting more and more jittery every second. It seemed as though he was going to explode when I asked him what was up.

Turtle's face turned a little red, "Oh, I'm just really excited you to the tribe leaders. I mean bringing one new person it is great and, but three is amazing. I can't wait to see the looks on the everyone's faces when they find out what I did. They'll finally think I'm worth something."

"They don't now?" Lily asked him.

Turtle's face turned even redder, "Oh, well it's just that sometimes it seems like I can't do anything. And being an orphan definitely isn't helping."

"Your an orphan too?" Leo asked, and Turtle nodded, "That's sad."

After that, we swam for a couple more minutes before finally arriving.
