The last thing Alex remembered was passing out on the path into the ship, when he woke up… things were quite different. You see when he woke up he was, to be blunt, almost dead… how you ask? Well you remember that huge ship that made the engi home world DISSAPEAR!!! Well… it was to blame for this. As Alex opened his eyes he found where he was… in what looked like a storage room full of… umm, dead bodies. Rotting corpses with their throats slit and their legs and arms bound together. At the sight of this Alex immediately threw up, and everything went black again...

When Alex awoke for the second time he was, again in a different place… however this time he was not in a cupboard full of dead body’s… thankfully. He was in a rather pleasant sleeping quarter.  He was surprised by this as it was a quite large change from his last location.

The entire room was completely immaculate, strange…

“Anyone there? Hello?”

*warning! Warning! Enemy life form detected!*

A small robot hovered down the corridor next to the room he was in. It stopped at the door, at seeing how small and harmless the robot was Alex decided to approach it, as he did a large squadron of heavily armed guards appeared round the corner.

“Who the hell are you?!” shouted who looked to be in charge.

“I’m… err… my names Alex.”

“Well…err…Alex; do you know where you are?”

“To be honest I don’t have the faintest idea.”

“Good… take aim!”

“Wait! NO!”

Luckily I can tell you that Alex is not about to die, but I have some things to clear up first . Firstly I’d just like to point out that fainting allot is quite normal for Alex and he has been to see a doctor about it, they say its fine. Secondly you may be wondering where Alex is at this point. Well he’s nowhere, don’t worry about that. Finally I would just like to say that this is in fact a fan-fic for a game called FTL, it’s a great game and you can get it on steam . I hope this has cleared a couple of things up.

Anyway, back to Alex being shot .

“Good…take aim!”

“Wait! NO!”

“Why should I?”

“Err…because since you’re going to kill me you can tell me where I am can’t you? You won’t need to worry about me telling anyone because I’ll be dead.”

“I’M NOT AN IDIO-*BOOM!*

“HOLY SHI-*CRASH*

“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!”

Suddenly the entire base was falling to pieces, they had been hit by a meteor storm. The whole place was being constantly bashed with large chunks of rock.

*In the event of a meteor storm all locking doors will be sealed shut, all air locks will be opened. Thank you*

As the door into the living quarters shut closed Alex could hear the screams of the soldiers as they were sucked into the complete vacuum of space, the little droid however was trapped under the bed sheet in the same room as Alex. He reached into his bag and got out his screwdriver (he always carries one around) and opened it up. He managed in that time to reprogram it to help him, and called it Dave.

“Well, what on earth am I going to do now? Dave, you got any ideas?”

“Err… well I mean there is one thing you could do.”

“What’s that?”

“Open the door.”

“I’m not stupid.”

“Are you not?”

“HOW DARE YOU!!!”

“Never mind… just open the door.”

“Fine…”

As he opened the door he braced to be sucked into the entire vacuum of space, this however did not happen… instead he found himself looking into a Long corridor.

At the end of this corridor there was a tall, dark hunched over figure. Behind that there were several other beings of similar composition . The figure at the front stood on its hind legs, the rest were on all fours.

 “Hello… who’s there?”

“Do not question who we are, only accept we exist…”

Then unexpectedly they disappeared. Alex closed the door once more.

“Err… Dave? WHO THE HELL WERE THEY???”

“You better do as they say Alex, you don’t want to know who they were.”

“I guess not, but why were they there?”

“I’m afraid I do not know, you should open the door again.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, go for it.”

“Ok.”

He opened the door again, this time it was even more peculiar.

“Why, are we in a jungle???”

“Don’t question it, just run forwards. I’ll follow.”

Alex ran, as fast as he could through the cold, dark jungle. He could hear loud booming roars in the background as his feet pounded into the ground, *thud…thud…thud*

Alex stopped, he had fear in his heart and he wanted to keep running but he couldn’t. He dared himself to keep running but he was stone stiff, he heard the loud booming roars once more, this time they sounded closer, and closer and closer… the snapping of trees in the distance, glaring eyes appeared all around him and growling and hissing began in the trees, Alex caught a small look at his hunters, eight long legs each one the size of himself two times over, two large, bright eyes the size of bowling bowls… and two huge scything talons mounted on gigantic barbed appendages. At first Alex thought these were some sort of giant spider, but it was worse than that… these were primal mantis, the lost age of mantis evolution. The missing link between the sort of mantis you got in 2012, and the modern day mantis of 2165. In these days the primal mantis are known as ‘mutants’, this is not what they are. They are simply mantis that did not evolve when the other planets of the mantis did. Alex had fallen right into their trap, as they emerged from the tree’s he let out a bellowing scream… but it was too late, the poison had already taken affect…
