I walked into school confidently that morning. Life was great at the moment. Since Mum's death I'd never been as happy as I was that day. I had an amazing dress for the "prom" that would be on that weekend, an amazing boyfriend to go with, and some amazing friends to get drunk with. Perfect!
I was wearing my favourite brown combat boots, a white lace dress, a denim jacket and a flower in my straight brown hair striding in through the doors of the school.
I was met by my boyfriend Jaden Adams leaning against my locker with that sexy grin on his face. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.
"Woah, Ok!" Jaden said stunned by my choice of greeting.
I opened my locker and started sorting my books. "I'm making a new start, what you just witnessed was the new me! you like?"
"So the new you comes into school every day throwing herself at me? i like" he replied.
"Good coz this is me from now on. No more moodiness, no more complaining or excluding myself from social activities" I swung my schoolbag onto my back.
"Why are you doing this?" Jaden asked throwing his arm over my shoulder.
"It's a reward for you, Jules, Carmen, Jesse ... everyone. For putting up with me and all my shit" I smiled.
Jaden laughed "Well it was my absolute pleasure to put up with your shit. Girls on their periods, eh?" I slapped him laughing as we walked down the hall.

The rest of the morning was as boring as ever of course. Trying to stay awake during a double history was still a struggle despite my good sleep the night before.
I looked around the room to see everyone with their hands glued to the side of their faces in boredom.
Finally the glorious sound of the bell filled the room and I slapped myself to wake up, grabbed my books and went to leave the room almost tripping over my own feet.
I bumped into someone in the doorway. I adjusted my hair and looked at them smiling, determined to keep the new me intact.
"Hey, Izzy!" Brad smiled raking a hand through his brown curls.
I smiled at my friend warmly. Bradley simpson and I had been best friends ever since we were little and he was the one person I could tell everything to. On the first week when my mother died I would spend most of the day at his house because I just needed to be with someone who gets me and Brad was the only person who truly understood me.
"Brad!" I squealed hugging him. "What are you doing here?"
Brad was 18 and finished school. He smiled and handed me a bunch of fliers from a huge pile he had in his hands.
"Bonfire, well, slash party slash gig tonight in the woods. we're playing. Bring beer or whatever. Spread the word. I gotta go, see you there!" he said leaving.
"Okay, nice to see you too!" I called after him. He spun around waving the fliers in the air and walking away again.
I looked at one of them. It was made up of microsoft word text and a clip art of a bonfire. Then there was a big sticker of Brad's band's logo on it. "The Vamps". I smiled knowing how bad he was with technology and computers.
The Vamps were an indie pop band. Well, that's how Brad categorised it. It consisted of him as lead singer, James McVey on guitar and backing vocals and Tristan Evans on drums. They put up covers on Youtube and played any gig they could get their hands on. I went to most of their gigs and I knew they were going to make it big someday.
