Chapter 1

Yuu pov

I lay on my back while staring at the old white ceiling. Sometimes i tend to remember the first time i got here. I was stood in front of everyone as the caretaker introduced me cheerfully. At that time i didn't care about anything at all until one particular kid  with blond hair approached me and stretched out his hand while he told me to call him Mika.

Mika and i are roomate. I thought he was being overly friendly and it's annoying so i brushed him off. Days and weeks he tried his best to approach me by invited me to play tag or eat together with him. Of course i declined but mostly he dragged me to do everything with the kids at the orphanage.

Then one night, i couldn't sleep so i just lay on my bed while staring at the window. "You couldn't sleep?" Mika asked while rubbing his eyes. "Go back to sleep Mika." I said and he suddenly walked towards me and my eyes widened as he climbed on my bed to lay next to me.

"What are you doing? I didn't say you can come near me." He said and he suddenly grabbed my hand. "We're family and Yuu-chan... you're my most..favourite person.." Mika said slowly and his eyes slowly shut. I huffed and covered his body with my blanket. "Weirdo." I muttered.

But since that day, i started to opened up to him and he was thrilled when i accepted his invitation for the very first time.

"Yuu-chan!" Mika's face suddenly popped up above me and i screamed. "Haha scared much?" Mika chuckled and i threw my pillow directly at him which he dodged it. "Give me a break." I huffed and sit on my bed while Mika pass back my pillow. "Thinking hard again? What is it this time?" He sat next to me. "Nothing much." I said and he didn't push me to say anything further.

"Ne Yuu-chan. Wanna go out and play?" He placed his hand above mine with a smile on his gentle face. "Yeah sure. I'll go find Akane." I got up from my bed but Mika grabbed my sleeve. "I meant just the two of us this time." He pouted. "Then it won't be thay fun you know. Hang on i'll go get Akane." I brushed him off and went to find Akane.

"I'm beat." I said and i jumped off of the huge monkey bars and Akane giggled. "You're tired but you still can't reach to the top like Mika did." Akane said. Now that she mentioned him, while i was busy climbing i didn't pay attention where Mika went. I looked around and saw him at the other side of the huge monkey bars while...what is he doing anyway with both hands on the bars?

"Mika! What are you doing over there?" I called out to him and he flinched. "Oh nothing." He ran towards us. "The sun is almost set. We should head home but before that Mika can you help me up to wash my hands over there? I can't reach the tap." Akane said and Mika nodded.

As they walked away, i went to the other side of the monkey bars where Mika stood. What was he doing just then? I scanned the bars within his height and i saw something been carved horizontally on one of the bars. I looked closer and saw something unexpected. "Mika loves "

Mika loves who? I didn't know Mika has a crush on someone and he didn't tell me about it. I looked at then through the bars and saw Mika lift her up and they seems pretty happy. My breathing became heavy and my body suddenly became hot. My hands clenched into a fists. I have no idea why i felt this way but i know i don't like it one bit.

Does Mika wanted to carve Akane's name? I furrowed my eyebrows and i searched for something sharp to carve and there was a tiny rock on the  ground. I took it and started to carve on the bar. "Mika loves Yuu". I stared at it feeling satisfied.

"Ahhh!!" Akane's loud screamed snapped me out of my trance. I ran towards them and saw couple of bullies were standing close with Akane hiding behind Mika. As one of the bullies tried to reach out to Mika, i sprint and slapped his hand away. "Don't touch him! What do you want?!" I shouted and they smirked. I l glared at them i knew the kid with white hair is Ferid since i heard a lot about him.

"We just want some money." One of them said. "Come on Yuu-chan let's go." Mika said but i didn't budge from where i stood. "Why didn't you guys just go and earn it you lazy bunch." I sassed and they seem quite angry to hear that. "Don't get cocky you shorty!" Ferid grabbed my collar and as he was about to punch me, Mika punched him on his cheek until he fell on the ground.

"Yuu-chan take Akane with you and run! I can't hold them back for very long!" Mika desperately shouted while the other bullies tried to fight Mika. "Heck no! I can't just leave you here-" "Just go you idiot!" He shouted and the Ferid who fell on the ground started to stand. I looked over at Akane then at Mika. I shut my eyes and bit my bottom lip then grabbed Akane's hand to run away.

When we arrived at the orphanage, Akane hastily went to tell the caretaker about what happened. The caretaker went out to search for Mika.

I was sitting on the roof while staring at the dark sky. It has been two days Mika didn't wake up. The orphanage couldn't afford to send him at the hospital so the caretaker did her best to take care of him. Suddenly i saw a car parked in front of the orphanage. I didn't bother to know and just stare at the sky for a while until someone called out to me."Yuu-nii. The caretaker said you have to come down." Akane said and i sighed.

As i got down, there are two unfamiliar men was surrounded my kids. "Those are people who wanted to adopt any one of you here." The caretaker said and i rolled my eyes. Suddenly my eyes accidentally locked with the guy with black hair. The next thing he said really pissed me off. "Hey. I want that short black hair kid over there." The man pointed at me and i gapped.

"No thanks. I like staying here besides, i have someone to look after." I glanced away and the caretaker started to explained to them what happen.  "No Guren you're bad at this, let me handle this." The guy with white hair said and walked towards me then knelt. "Hello my name is Shinya. I heard what happened Yuu." Shinya gave me a tender smiled. "It's not like i can go back to the past and change it." I muttered.

"What don't we make a deal. You see that guy over there called Guren and he seems to taken a liking to you." He said. "So?" I asked. "So, if you're willing to be his step son, i'll let your friend stay at my relative private hospital." He said and my eyes widened. I gripped his shirt and look at him straight in the eyes to see if he's lying which i see none of it. "Deal." I responded.

I sat on Mika's bed after i finished packing my stuff and stared down at him who was unconscious. His face and body were really bad too look at since there are so many dark bruises. I ran my hand through my dark hair and let out a frustration sighed. If i hadn't say those harsh things then this  wouldn't happen in the first place.

I leaned down and rest my forehead with his. I wish i was nicer to him and more honest but it's all too late to say it now. My body unconsciously moved on its own and kiss Mika's forehead. I stood and put my favourite shirt on his desk then walked towards the door. I know Mika is going to be fine since he's going to transfer to a private hospital by tomorrow morning. We might won't be see each other for a while but i know we're going to see each other again.
