Hunter lay on the hospital bed thinking about Lexi. He couldn't believe that he even tried to save her from Seth, but he did and she stabbed him in the back.

"They'll write on my gravestone 'I loved you more than I should,'" he whispered.

His tray of food was still sitting in front of him, but he wasn't very hungry, so he left it alone.

****************

Hunter woke up because his cell phone was ringing.

He picked it up and checked the caller ID, it was Lexi!

"What?" Hunter asked angrily into the speaker.

"Hunter, I-I-I wanted to apologize. I tried to get to the police station to turn myself in because I felt horrible, but Seth caught me!" Hunter listened closely as Lexi rambled on.

"Lexi, if I wanted you turned in don't you think I would have told them it was you by now?" Hunter asked quietly.

"You don't want me to get turned in?" Lexi whispered, "Why?"

"Because that would hurt more than dying." Hunter stated flatly.

"Oh." Lexi whispered, shocked.

Suddenly the line started to crackle, Hunter moved the phone and looked at the screen sure enough the call had been lost.

***************

"You won't get away with this, Seth!" Lexi screamed angrily.

"We've been through this before, L, I always win!" Seth screamed.

"Not this time," Lexi muttered. Then, before she could doubt herself she brought her elbow up to hit Seth in the face!

"Lexi!" Luk screamed.

Grunting Seth sat up. "Not as weak as I remember, L. But remember Hunter isn't here to save you now."

Lexi watched silently as Seth stood up once more. "Julian!" Seth yelled.

From the room next door Lexi saw Julian appear from the doorway.

"Yes?" Julian asked.

"Hold her in that chair while I tie her down." Seth ordered.

Lexi struggled, but Julian and Seth put together were way too strong for her to fight. Instead she screamed. She screamed louder than she had ever screamed before even the time she had been shot.

***************

Hunter looked wildly around the hospital room, looking for some way out. Even though she had shot him, all Hunter could think about was saving Lexi. Then he spotted the open window. If he could time it just right he could slip out the window and be out of sight before the afternoon nurse came in.

Yesterday they had taken out his IV, and they had put him in the clear so he was allowed to wander the floor but not outside.

Hunter grabbed his shoes, pulled them on, and crept towards the open window. Bracing himself, Hunter slid through the window. Since he was only on the second floor it didn't hurt much. If he had been even a floor higher he could have broken a bone.

He could guess it was the same place as last time so he began to sprint towards the woods. Hunter slowed his pace when he entered the woods, so as to give Seth as little warning as possible. When Hunter came to the old barn, he could see shadows through the window and he could hear soft voices. He kept going until he reached the open door, then he walked inside.

The first room he came to had an open door and the voices here were strong. Hunter poked his head inside and what he saw was no shock. Lexi tied to a chair, Seth standing over a barely moving figure who's name Hunter did not know, and Julian standing just behind Seth.

Hunter walked silently into the room and behind Lexi. She stared at him in shock, but she kept quiet. Hunter made quick work of untying the knots around Lexi. When he was done he turned to Lexi and motioned for her to go, to go to safety while he helped this unknown person. She nodded and walked silently out the door.

"Hello, Seth," Hunter called loudly.

Seth whipped around and stared at him in shock. "What? But-but she shot you! And you still came here?"

"Yes," Hunter said quietly.

"Bring him outside," Seth ordered Julian.

Julian turned to the body and jerked it upward and started dragging it outside. Hunter saw a police vest on the body, Seth had attacked a cop!

"Come with me," Seth demanded.

Seth began walking the same way that Julian had gone. Hunter followed unsure what to do.

"Hunter, Hunter, Hunter," Seth said pacing around an empty room. "You act like a hero, but are you really? I'll find her again, again and when I do I'll put a bullet in her head, but not before I put one in yours." Seth pulled out a gun and cocked back the hammer.

"Seth, don't do that," commanded a voice, a voice that did not belong to Lexi, but to Julian.

Seth acted as if he had not heard Julian, taking step after step closer to Hunter's head.

He put his hand on the trigger and pulled.
