Prologue
I took a seat in my last hour class and looked around. There were very few of us scheduled for English this period, and I was the first one here. It was nearing the end of my first day as a high school senior, and I was torn between being excited about getting done with high school, and sad to leave everyone I've known for years.
As I sat there pondering my post-graduation what if's, I heard the desk behind me creak and immediately felt the presence of whoever had chosen to sit to my rear. In attempt to avoid awkwardness, I turned ever so slightly, pretending to look for something in my backpack, in order to get a glimpse of whoever was sitting there.
"Can I borrow a pen?" I looked up to the speaker and realized it was none other than Chad Cohen. I quickly handed him the one I'd excavated from my bag and turned to face the front. "Thanks." I heard him say, once I'd settled facing away from his dark eyes.
I'd heard the stories of Chad Cohen. Some good, many bad. Either way, he radiated trouble, and though I vowed to not get involved, I had to resist the urge to turn back around and take in his gorgeous features one more time.
