I opened my eyes to broad daylight. My mother stood over me smiling and my father stood there grinning from ear to ear. I reached out my hand and my chubby fingers touched my mother's face. She laughed and reached down and pulled me from crib. My brother stood there, trying to get a good look at me. Mother held me in her arms and Father stroked my bare head. Cane attempted at poking my eyes, but Father swooped him up. There we all were, one big, happy family without a care in the world.
Cane was seven years of age, he had bright eyes and brown hair. He looked just like my father. Mother would watch Father and him playing in the field. They would chase each other and roll around in the dirt. Father was a farmer, he had a good amount of money from selling wheat and corn. Of course all the money he earned we saved for later years.
When I was one year of age I would follow Cane around, running into his boots when he stopped walking. Every time I ran into him I would just babble and get up again. Mother was expecting another child, as she had already lost one. She sang to me every night and told me about the baby coming. Every week Mother would bring Cane and I into town to buy meat and fabric. The young women of that town loved Cane and I, the shop owners gave us candy and bread. My hair grew quickly, it started pale but within a year it was a deep, dark brown. The townsmen loved my family, they were all warm and welcoming, and greeted us with hugs. I was a popular child in that town, I was still the youngest female there. My mother and father were a very happy couple, when I turned one they celebrated their eighth year of marriage.
Our town was in the kingdom of Corlaina. A new princess had been born had been born two years before I had, her name was Evora. People would joke about me meeting the princess, but Mother and Father would just laugh and sigh.On my forth birthday is when things took a bad turn. During the night I was laying in my bed, fast asleep. As I was sleeping a figure entered our town. He was tall, and wore a black cloak that covered his burned face. The moon came out, as he passed our house. The moon, oh the moon, it was as round as it could be. The full moon shone down above him. Slowly, his back arched, his fingers turned to claws, and he grew hair all over his body. In a sudden rage he threw open the door to our house and ran inside. He stood there, in our living room, baring his fangs. His eyes shone red and his mouth foamed. His hood fell back to release his hideous snout. He broke open the door to where my brother, two year old sister, and I were sleeping. The noise woke my parents in the other bedroom but they weren't sure as to what it was. Suddenly, they heard a high-pitched screaming. My parents rushed into my room just as the figure disappeared out the window. My mother and father looked down at me laying on the floor, covered in blood. My mother woke the whole town with her screaming at the sight of me. I was laying on my back, my arm out beside me, covered in blood. I looked up at my mother's waxen face and my brothers wide, shocked eyes. My baby sister sobbed into my fathers shoulder as he held her. As I looked I heard my mother gasp as I felt my eyes change. My beautiful blue eyes, passed down through my mother, changed to a soft gold. I heard a gun shot outside, and then footsteps running to our house. Some of the town came bustling into the room, only to stop short beside my family. The baker held a gun, the one he had just used to kill the werewolf. The moonlight shone in from the open window. As it reached me I felt my body change. The wound on my arm miraculously healed but started to grow fur. Claws formed on my hands and feet and I slipped out of my nightgown. I was covered in fur. I stood on all fours and backed away from the people. I felt scared, and dangerous. I saw the baker harden his grip on the gun. With fear and longing filling my eyes I fled.
