Jin stared at the calming sunset, feet dangling from the ocean rock that he was currently resting on. He could feel the gentle waves touching his bare feet. Winds swept past him which made his hair move to the side of his face.
So many creatures, so many islands left undiscovered. Jin had always wondered why his father always cautioned his people not to go past the reef. Claiming that 'the ocean was a cruel unmerciful place'.
He never believed it though, he's always liked the idea of going out and exploring the unknown. The thrill of discovering the undiscovered made him feel tingly inside. His father clearly against it, Jin being next in line for chief meant he had to have one thing on his mind and that was what was best for his people.
Not all were against Jin's desire to voyage. Jin's grandmother also known what as the village's crazy lady loved the idea of Jin going out and exploring vast seas. But know one put to much thought on what she had to say about what his grandson should do with his future.
Jin finally realized he would be late for the feast they were throwing for his father in celebration of his last week as chief. He didn't expect that job but in Jin's eyes was viewed more like a burden to be given to him so quickly. Sure he had been trained for this all his life but it never seemed realistic to him.
He got up from where he sat and walked back to the small village.
