The date is 2046, 12 years after animatronics were band in most of the world. Most still are left decaying in abandoned warehouses, others using scraps to stay operational waiting for The Reactivated to rescue them. None have high hopes that the war that has raged between flesh and metal will end with both sides standing. I didn't know I even existed, I was one of the prototypes for the next generation of animatronics. I was more of a cyborg only no human in me or so my files said. The hole that once was the floor of a robotic storage facility and the roof of a top secret animatronic testing facility gave way allowing the world into my room. The facility was built for the purpose of human evolution, testing the limits of what was possible. Before they could test Project 0 it was shut down. I've sat on this table for 12 years unable to move think or do anything. I was dead essentially, I felt nothing saw nothing remembered nothing. The day wasn't bright it wasn't clear in fact quite the opposite. Storm clouds covered the sky, the rain was just a mist but enough to dampen everything. As everything settled a bolt of lightning light up everything, it was aiming for one thing one machine me.
The earth once again settled as I came online. My eyes blinked as I saw the world for the first time. No matter how old how destroyed the building was no matter how threatening the clouds seemed it was still beautiful. When I tried to get up my body strained, the 12 years I've been idle has taken its toll on me on my parts. As I walked through the abandoned warehouse I saw what had become of the robotic species. Old offline left to rust and rot, many torn apart used for parts but I couldn't use anything off of them. I was too new, as I dragged my leg forward I felt like a monster. A grinding noise, a busted broken foot, doors and hatches missing, and bright green emerald eyes that blinked every now and then. Where am I going what was my purpose? I didn't know I just walked. The broken city around me was mostly dust and dirt, Chicago was its name. But how did I know that I didn't did I?
After the day was over I could hear gunfire tank shells in the distance or at least I thought I was distant. As I looked at a building I hear another tank fire, this one was closer. As I turn my head I see the shell hit the building I was looking at. The building shifted and started to fall right towards me instinctively I turn and run but I couldn't. As the building was falling I heard gunfire but it wasn't behind me, it was where I was limping towards. Another round was fired from the tank within a millisecond of hearing it I saw it fly past me with sparks. It wasn't going straight instead spinning like a horrible spiral into the ground. Before I could put my hands up to shield my eyes I feel something hit me knocking me off my feet and into the ground. My body creaked and bent as I bounced off the ground, through one of the fallen walls, and into the gravel on the other side, sending shocks of pain through me until I eventually passed out.
As I slipped in and out of consciousness I heard small bits of conversations some about me others about a war, but I only cared about one the one I heard when I woke up.
"So any information yet or is this little girl a pile of scrap?"
"Scrap are you kidding she's like nothing I've ever seen look at how advanced she is."
"John get your head out of her circuitry for a second we found her in the middle of a war zone is she dangerous?"
"Dangerous yes but I don't think she is to us. At least not yet she's more humanlike than machine, in fact she doesn't have a code she seems to run from her own free will."
"That's not possible maybe that tossing around scrambled her internals."
"Look at her no damage from that at all, the biggest thing I see that could disrupt her circuits is whatever this charred spot is on her."
"Well do what you can if she can operate get some clothes on her and train her to fight. if not, crush her we need the medal for weapons."
"Yes sir."
I had so many questions but I couldn't talk or move until I felt myself fall to the floor and the floor shake.
"ATTENTION, code red this is not a drill evacuate the building as soon as possible."
I heard a voice say as the building shook again then something grab me lifting me off the ground. I stumbled as it later set me down. I opened my eyes to see red lights flashing and fire throughout the hallway along with sparks flying.
"Can you walk?"
I turned my head to look at who said that as I see a human fettling with the door panel.
"Can u talk or do anything other than look around? We have to go now."
I shifted my body to one side to get up. As I did I felt the wall I was leaning on slide making me fall back on the floor, shortly after I felt the man lift me up again and pull me. As I started to get my footing I heard an explosion. Peaces of a wall hit me before the shockwave from the explosion sends both of us to the floor. As I got up I felt something hit me knocking my head to the side and throwing my balance off. When I looked to see what it was I was met with the barrel of a gun. Before I could think I grabbed it knocking it out of my face and standing up grabbing the solder and throwing him into the wall but retreating his sidearm. I tilted the gun on its side and raised it to eye level firing it hitting one solder after another until none were standing then possessing what just happened.
Later on after we escaped I sat in a truck thinking of what I did until the guy who helped me escape spoke.
"My names John robotics expert or sort of a medic. Do you have a name?"
I just looked at him for a minute. "Dolly."
"Well, thanks for saving me Dolly."
"No problem, I didn't really know what I was doing."
"You sure looked like you did. You looked trained Black Ops or CIA maybe even Special Forces."
"I don't know."
"Who were you before the war?"
"I don't know."
"Is there anything you do know, or are you not telling me?"
"I just don't know. All I remember was waking up and walking until I almost got killed and ended up here."
"So all that was all security protocol."
"What?"
"You must have protocols that keep you safe when threatened. Either that or to protect others."
I sat there and thought for a few minutes not hearing anything then feeling Johns hand placed on my leg snapping me out of my thought bubble.
"Are you ok Dolly?"
"Yeah just thinking."
I watch him for a few seconds reading his face he seemed to be testing me. Poking at my past but I didn't have one, what was he going to do to me what did he want to know?
"I know you want to know something, so why not just ask me?"
"There's been roomers well files found about a certain Project 0, a new age animatronic that was never activated. They were a person before they died. Their consciousness was uploaded into Project 0, I think you are Project 0..."
His voice got distant I could no longer hear him as my mind reeled to something I once was. It was bright I was in an apartment, it had a huge window that spanned from roof to floor wall to wall with a door on both sides. More and more came to me as I was sitting on the bed, memories. I was Project 0 AKA Dolly Ann a rookie in the Chicago Police Department. Alienated by my friends and family because of my job choice. Before I could find out more I was jolted out of my flashback by the truck tilting to the side. An explosion had knocked the truck over and sent me out of it. I slammed onto the gravel road and rolled for a few feet before pushing myself up. I ran to the edge of the road to see the truck and see John helping the others out as he looked up at me I heard a single shot, it sounded distant. Before I could react the vision in my right eye went out as I saw sparks leaving my face and knocking my head down. I twitched and looked at the ground before dragging my head back up to look at John. I watched him run towards me as the world turned sideways. I hit the ground and watched the streaks of bullets fly across the sky. That was the last thing I saw before losing consciousness.
