Ladies and Gentleman we've begun our initial decent into Colorado. If you could please restore all chairs to there upright position and make sure all belonging are under your seat. We will be landing shortly."

My mom stirred next to me as she was awaken by the Pilots announcement. I popped my earbuds out and placed them back into my backpack along with my phone and looked out the window at the beautiful land below us.

My mom placed her hand over mine "Home." She said as a smile made its way onto her face. I processed the word, "Home" I repeated, the word felt foreign on my tongue.

Truthfully I dont know where I felt home was, we'd moved around so much. Not that I was complaining, I loved the travelling and the experiences that came along with it. I guess however I could consider colorado home, I'd lived here the longest from age 7-13.

It wasn't soon before we were on the ground unbuckling our seatbelts and exiting the plane. We followed the signs pointing to baggage and I retrieved my bag quickly as I helped my mom look for hers, that's when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Ed?"
As I turned around to find the owner of the voice I was suprised by how much the person behind me had changed, his hair was now down to his shoulders and he was no longer a plucky and short freshman boy, instead he had grown into a tall handsome man. If it weren't for his chocolate brown eyes I wouldn't have recognized him.

"Tate!" My smile grew and I threw myself at him wrapping my arms around my bestfriend. He squeezed me back lifting me off the ground and spinning me in a circle.

"Hey Ned," he smiled and I chuckled at the old childhood nickname as he let me go.
"Wow Tate puberty did you well, you look good. FaceTime doesn't do you justice." I smiled back and he laughed looking down at me. "Ya well your not looking too bad yourself Ned."

We stood there in a comfortable silence for a moment before I added "So is this the part where we realize our undying feelings for each other and make out?" We both burst out laughing at the idea when my mom came over.

"Glad to see nothing has changed with you too." She grinned suitcase in hand. "Are we ready to go then?"
Tate and I both nodded and we followed him out the door of the airport towards the parking lot. We reached his Old Ford bronco and he threw the bags in the trunk for us as we hopped in.

"Let's get you home," he smiled at me. My thoughts gravitated to that word again as I thought about what that would look like. Home.

The drive was silent for the most part, except for the few times when Tate would point out places we'd been or that we would go.

The town hadn't changed much, Telluride was always such a quaint town, around 2500 people. People always said it looked like something out of Gilmore girls.

Finally we reached our neighborhood and as we pulled up to our house a feeling of nostalgia hit me. I took in the quaint home, the yellow cream walls and vines growing up the side. So much had happened in this house, good and bad. It's crazy to think that just 4 years ago I had lived here.

"You coming Ned," Tate said pulling Me out of my thoughts. He took my hand as he led me into the house. It got even weirder as I we entered.

Nothing had changed, everything exactly as we left it except for the sheets placed over things to avoid dust. The house overall looked better kept them I would have expected. My mom had paid someone to come in every few months and clean just to keep it nice.

I let Tate pull me up the stairs, and through one of the two doors to my room. I stared shocked at my surroundings as nostalgia hit me. "Weird right," Tate commented also looking a bit shocked and I nodded in agreement. "Very."

One of the white walls was covered with photos held by string and clothespins and there was a small desk and mirror. The other wall was a full bookshelf stacked with books and photo-frames. The bed was placed in the middle of the room and was bare ready to be made.

I took a seat on the bed and Tate sat down next to me. "I'm glad your back Ned, I've missed you," he smiled kinda sadly before nudging me with his shoulder. "Don't get all soft on me now Tate," I teased "So what have I missed, you mentioned on the phone that I'd be meeting some new people soon?"

At the mention of this Tate's smile grew. "Yes! Tomorrow you will be meeting some awesome people, there's 5 of us, we're kind of like a little posey. You'll love them, I know it, and I know they'll love you."

As he spoke my hand subconsciously found it's way to my face and my fingers started lightly tracing my scar, an action that didn't go unnoticed as he smiled sadly at me. That was one of the things I loved about Tate. He understood me like no other, and he understood when it was best not to say anything.

We spent the next few hours talking and unpacking catching up. I was so lucky to have Tate as my best friend and it seemed that now that we were older our friendship worked even better.
