Chapter 1:

Lindsey POV: God damn it! - She thought while she ran into a door and hit her head.  Mumbling death threats towards the door when she noticed a man staring at her. She didn't see him very well but she still wanted to avoid being embarrassed so she walked faster. After walking a few blocks towards the coffee shop, she couldn't help but notice a crowd gathering around something. She quickly walked over and saw a kid had been run over by a car, his bike was impaled in his stomach, it was gruesome enough to make a normal person gag. She wasn't normal in fact, she was the complete opposite. She always loved reading horror stories, seeing this was kind of normal for her, it was a small town and killings happened quite often here because of the security. (also because of so much gossip the prissy girls spread) "Oh Lindsey, the killer is going to get you tonight just like he did with the little girl." I hate Samantha, she thinks she's better than everyone, nobody likes her but she doesn't really care she has a small posse of snobs nobody likes them either.

After awhile of staring the police made us all go on with our business. Walking into the coffee shop I ordered the usual, nothing more than a latte. I sat by the window to watch the police and medics check for signs of life, then at the edge you can see a man and a woman bawling their eyes out, which I'm guessing was the boy's parents. I couldn't help but feel sorry for them, I couldn’t imagine losing my own child…. My parents weren’t dead they just didn’t want me to live with them; they kicked me out when I was 17. I was deep in thought when the waitress asked me if I was ok because apparently I looked a little pale. She set down my Frappe and I drank it slowly, not wanting to stay much longer because of how much noise there was outside and now there were reporters showing up. I grabbed my book bag and ran home, it was starting to snow which would’ve been a pretty savory moment if I hadn’t tripped and fell on the same man I saw after I ran into a door. He had a kind smile, the one that made you smile back without even thinking. After realizing I was staring at him I backed up my face was probably crimson red. “I-I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention”. I started down at the ground and noticed I made him drop a bunch of books. I bent down and started picking them up, he bent down and started picking up some pencils that he also dropped, “Oh no, it was my fault!  I couldn’t see where I was going”, he said it in such a voice that I just wanted to go up to him and hug him. “Well let’s call it even and say it was both our faults” I said giggling. “Alright then, and I will be a gentlemen and walk you home because you helped me pick up my books.”

“The books I knocked over?” I said with a smirk.

While he started walking me home I remember I didn’t even know his name.

“Oh I forgot to ask you your name!”

“And I didn’t ask you what yours was”

“I’m Lindsey.”

“I’m Mike.”

“Well nice to meet you Mike.”

“Right back at you” He said with a wink.

We walked quietly, I was staring at his almost perfect features, curved jawbone, messy brown hair, full lips, I could go on and on. While I was glaring at him he turned towards me, he smiled.

“So admiring the view?”

I turned my head automatically and blushed. “Oh wow I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stare.”

“Oh no please keep on doing so, it’s flattering.” He said with a sly grin.

“I-I umm this is my house, well I guess I’ll see you around Mike.”

“Well, you will be seeing a lot of me” He turned and walked away while I was still figuring out what he meant.
