We have been told how Margarethe died and the suffer she had to go through in her last days on this earth, but how did she got there? How did she met Geralt, Eskel and Marlow?
Her life started like everyone else's life with her birth, but even that was not a good one. From the very start she was an unwanted child, born as a result of the abuse of her mother. The woman went to the forest once it was time for the parturition in hope the child would die there and never be seen again, but oh was she wrong.
Baby Margy was at the brink of death, when a female wolf came by not being able to stand the cry of the baby, she was already about to kill the defenseless creature before her eyes, when an old wyvern bashes through the bushes to tear the wolf apart. That moment Margy went quiet. Her big green glistening eyes looking at the wyvern happily. Her tiny arms stretch out to the monster everyone would kill. Not knowing what threat lies behind the creature, the small one feels oddly comfortable with the wyvern.
As old and wise as the wyvern was, she knew, that a small bag of bones means no harm to her and she got her meal already. With no other threat around she settled down to eat. Little Margy was still there, starting to feel cold and whimpering like a baby would do to gain the attention from their mother. The only attention she got was the one from the wyvern. Her scales shimmer slightly green in the pale moonlight as she hovers over the little one. Instead of a fearful cry she receives a happy squeak and a small ice cold hand lands with a slight splash on the wyvern snout. She tilts her head slightly astonished by the little one and the emerald eyes draw her in. Annoyed the monster turns around again curling up some steps away from the baby to try and find some sleep. However, she can't find any, because Margy keeps on whimpering and squirming around on the cold dirty ground. Growling lowly the wyvern stands up and coils around the small bundle. It does not take long and Margy had fallen asleep. At least for some hours.Days went by and the wyvern finally accepted the baby and she took good care of the little one. Days turned into months. Months into years even, before Margy made her first contact with humans.
She was three years of age, when two man found the nest of the wyvern in which the girl was hidden, while the monster is on its hunt. Carefully they surround the nest and examine it until they found well hidden the girl, who was immediately growling at them and trying to get deeper into the debris with no success.
"Look what we got here. A little extra to the money we will get. Hey look out for that monster, while I catch this little pice of food." Obviously both of them thought, that the child was supposed to be a meal to the wyvern.
"You better hurry up. I don't want to waste too much time and do all the work, while you have your fun with that thing. Is she even human?"
"I'm sure. The girls will get her clean. I don't want a dirty wild beast to do the duties."
"Or tend to any needs." Both laugh a deep throaty laugh at this and switch their attention to each of their duties.
While the blonde haired guy struggles to get a good hold of the girl, who is like a fish between his hands, the dark brown haired one readies his sword to attack the approaching wyvern. The screech she made echoed over the top of the woods, someone wanted her girl and she needs to do something. It call alarmed the little one and both witcher of the approaching danger, and help. Margy, still not given this name, but already inside of her, hisses at the man, who holds her in a strong grip and bites with her little teeth deep in his arm. He yelps out in pain and drops her to the ground.
"That's what you get you little piece of shit."
"Hey stop playing around! Forget that useless thing, we got a problem here." As soon as he finished saying this two big claws aim at his face, but he can defend himself just in time. His sword leaves a bit of scratch on the wyvern, but missed her to do anymore damage.
"Alright." Now the blonde readies himself and let's the girl scurry away, back into the nest. The man are now busy to get the wyvern down, sadly enough they manage it after three missed bolts. The fourth is aimed carefully and hurries deep into the wing of the draconoid, which falls hard and loud to the ground. The girl crept to the edge of the nest to see what was going on there and her eyes, beautiful big green ones, go wide as she sees the horrible play before them.
The two witcher circle the beast now slow and careful, like cats approaching their prey ready to launch at the first change. The blonde distracts the wyvern, which was already old and not that fast anymore, while the other one goes around her to find the best spot to slice her head off of her shoulders. Skilled he evades the swinging tail and flapping wings until the second was there to launch onto her back and swing his two handed sword down on her gruesome neck. The oil on the shiny silver glistens in the sun, before it mixes with the deep red of the bloods, that gushes out of the wound. This whole time the little girl was watching. She wasn't able to turn her back on this scene and clasps her hands over her ears to muffle the agonizing screech of the dying mother like creature, that nursed and raised her over the past three years.
"I hate these flying pests."
"Yeah always hard to get and always a waste of bolts, but your aim was good this time haha. Let us take the head." Said the brown haired male, who was already cutting the head off of the beast, so they can sell it in the city for a good price.
"I want that one to be my price." The blonde pointed to the still shocked girl. She didn't struggled this time and let herself get carried away unable to move one finger. The shock was deep in her and the world was just passing bye as they rode to the town.
