"Natasha, he's awake!" Nat rushed in just in time to see Clint slowly wake up.
"How did you bring me back?" he asked shakily.
"Electrotherapy. I zapped your brain really hard." I said sheepishly. He chuckled softly and started to stand up.
"Where's the son of a bitch?" he growled.
"Stark's in the control room," I said grinning "and Loki's in the bomb proof glass house." Clint visibly relaxed then allowed us to tackle him with hugs and threaten to kill him if he ever let himself get mind controlled and make us sick with worry again.
"They want to do a debriefing in a few minutes." Natasha suddenly said and I groaned. Debriefings meant Fury and Fury meant me getting chewed out for zapping an agent without receiving orders. Clint punched my arm lightly and said
"If you want, I'll tell Fury I didn't leave you many choices." I smiled but inside we all knew I was toast.
"Do you have any IDEA, what could have happened if you shocked him one second longer?" Fury yelled at me.
"His brain would be a sparking pile of mush on the floor?" I tentatively answered. Clint looked at me with wide eyes and I shrugged innocently. I've never actually killed someone with my powers, I only knock them out and in extreme cases, paralyzed them.
"In her defense," Clint piped up "I was going to kill her, so..." He quailed under the look Fury gave him and I silently started praying to all things holy.
"This isn't the first time you've used your powers without permission." Fury stated coldly. I stared at the floor in silence. The other time I used my powers against orders, the agents with me all had to be administered to the ICU. I didn't like talking about it and Fury knew that. What a dick move.
"I'm sorry." I whispered to the ground, not daring to meet his eye. Fury sighed and I hesitantly glanced up to see him pacing the room.
"You have to learn to take orders, Banner." he said finally.
"Sir with all due respect, I literally defied nature's orders and was born with blue hair." He chuckled softly and stopped pacing to turn and face me.
"Captain says you did OK last night. Says that when he got there, you had knocked out four agents plus Barton and got away with a few bruises and one cut." I bit my lip trying not to smile. I'll be the first to admit it, I was slightly proud of myself last night. Four high level agents and Hawkeye hadn't been able to stop me!
"So, how much trouble am I in?" I asked, knowing that this was too good to be true.
"Just ask before you decide to shock someone's brain," Fury finally said "and tell Romanoff that she needs to keep a closer eye on you." I grinned and tackled Fury in a hug. His eyes widened and he patted my head like I was a hyperactive puppy. "Go find Rogers and do some practice spars with him." Fury said after he finally managed to dislodge me "And Banner? No more cartwheels, You almost decapitated people." I stuck my tongue out and after getting an evil glint in my eyes, turned around and back handspringed down the hall to go find Steve.
"Why Rogers? Just, why?" I shakily propped myself against the wall, trying to catch my breath. Steve smiled and reached out a hand to help me up. I took it, and throwing all my weight, tackled him and landed on top of his chest. He groaned and looked at me in mock betrayal. I laughed and just sat back as he tried to push me off. "I am an unmova-" I was cut short as Steve jumped up and swung me around so that I was hanging upside down with only him holding my feet stopping me from making out with the floor. I shrieked and tried to pull myself up only to wince as the movement pulled my stitches. Steve instantly stopped smiling and set me down gently. I slowly lifted up my shirt and cussed when I saw one of my stitches had come out. Steve ran to get the first aid kit and I pressed my hand against my side to try and stem the bleeding. When he came back, I grabbed a gauze pad to put pressure on it. Steve gently moved my hand and I hissed in pain as he redid my stitches. He wrapped another bandage around my chest and helped me up. "I'm fine." I assured him when he kept looking at me worriedly. Steve didn't say anything and just put the first aid kit. "Hey," I said softly, grabbing his arm. "It's not your fault I'm an idiot and forgot about my stitches." he smiled and I punched his arm lightly. "Want to come with me to make fun of Stark? That normally cheers anyone up." He nodded and I dragged him to the science lab where my brother and Tony were trying to figure out the magical stick of destiny.
"We are not calling it the magical stick of destiny." my brother said as he grinned at me.
"You are missing out." I said in disappointment.
"Why are you here again?" Tony asked irritably.
"To make fun of you two, point out the obvious flaws in your work, you know, the usual." Steve smirked from the doorway and I grinned at Tony's annoyed face.
"There aren't any flaws." he snapped.
"Not even the one where you miscalculated the output of electromagnetic energy?" I asked innocently. Even Bruce started laughing as Tony dashed to the computer and slumped in defeat when he saw I was right. "It's 10,000 joules." I called.
"How could you possibly know that?" he asked in bewilderment.
"I can feel it." I said as I discreetly touched the scepter and siphoned off some of it's energy. I'd been doing this ever since we got back and it felt amazing. Not in the way like how some people talk about drugs but like ice cream after eating healthy for a week. "So what else have you been up to?" I asked casually.
"Well I'm currently hacking into SHIELD to find every dirty secret they've ever tried to hide."
"Cool." I said grinning. Tony seemed surprised by my response but what else did he expect? SHIELD had tons of secrets. I'm sure they could afford to lose a few. Steve however, frowned and motioned for me to follow him. "I sense naughty thoughts brewing in that patriotic mind of yours." I said teasingly.
"If we want information on SHIELD, we can't wait for Stark's computer."
"So we're going to go look through their physical files?" Steve nodded and I grinned. It'd been like a whole 48 hours since I'd been a troublemaker, that was long enough for me. I pulled Steve to SHIELD's secure file room and watched in amazement as he pushed the secure, bullet proof door open. "Remind me not to get you angry." I muttered. He laughed and we quietly snuck in to the room to dig up some info.
"I got something!" Steve called a few minutes later. I phased right next to him and saw an odd looking gun type thingy. My vocabulary's really on point. I pulled a paper out from the case it was in and gasped when I read it. Steve took it and a look of anger replaced his confusion. "We have to tell Stark." I said anxiously. He nodded and we sprinted back to the lab. This gun changed everything. It even changed me. If I was working with people who wanted to use this without me even knowing it, what else didn't I know?
