" I love you though Marcus." I say exasperated in an attempt to grab his hand only for him to pull it away in an instant. He looked out in the distance of the cold night's sky and shook his head slowly. My heart was pounding loudly in my ears, and I could feel my throat tightening, and my eyes about to water a way too familiar feeling that keeps occurring way too often.

" I just don't love you in that way anymore Indigo, like we aren't us anymore it doesn't feel the same, I just can't anymore ." Marcus says barely above a whisper as if he was still contemplating his decision as he let in words fall off his tongue into the cold November air.

I look down at my hands in a despondent manner. " It's because of her huh?'  I ask quietly as he walked away from the brown metal park bench he was just sitting on. He stops abruptly and looks down at his vans as if they held the answers to all his problems.

He nods his head slowly and turns to me from the distance.

" I'm sorry ." He spoke quietly before he turned his back once again and walked away from me for the last time.

" Are you almost ready ?" Jarissa asks as she opens the door to be room loudly with a huge swing, which is something I'd usually yell at her about but on this rare occasion I was absolutely grateful she was saving me from my thoughts and my self-destructive criticism that was going to follow shortly after.

I give her a short nod and I slowly glide my brush down my thick curls one last time before grabbing my jean JanSport off of the knob of my white structured bed frame.

She turns on the heels of her feet on the shining brown hardwood floor and dances her way to the banister signing a Rex Orange County song at the top of her lungs.

I follow behind her as we skip down the stairs together into the kitchen.

" Do you think Leonardo goes to our school?" she asks as we sit at the island of the counter as she takes a bite into her apple as she wandered off into space.

" I have no idea, I've never seen him any of the previous years." I say as I walk over to the fridge and grab a water.

Today was the first day of our Senior year and to be quite frank I am absolutely terrified beyond words can explain. I haven't seen Marcus since the break up last year after he left me for Jasmine, but apparently, he's coming back to finish his senior year at  Sicily High School.

" We should head out." Jarissa says as she grabs her bag and slips it on her forearm. She grabs her car keys off the counter in a swift movement while munching down on her apple. I take the scenery in as I walk out my front door.

The colors of the sky were mixed together lightly as if the knew they belonged together. The purple pinks and red washed together as if almost they were painted there. It reminded me of the first day I met Cameron which made my heart warm in a way I never knew it could.

" Just take the damn picture already."Jarissa says from beside me which cause me to let out a loud laugh.

As I started walking towards the car I heard a motorcycle rev loudly from the house next door which startled me since it was only six thirty in the morning.

Jarissa and I examine the boy who was around our age I assumed due to the bag that was strapped across his body.  He bags out his driveway while never breaking eye contact with me and drives off in a fast manner.

" That was so weird ." Jarissa comments once she knows he's out of earshot.

I nod in agreement as I slowly grip the cool handle on the yellow bug as I shake the water from the wet grass off my shoes.

I slide in the car slowly and buckle myself in as Jarissa does the same while starting the engine in the cold car which makes goosebumps arise on my brown complexion.

One Starbucks trip and a fifteen minutes of singing we eventually pulled up to school.

" You ready?" Jarissa asks looking over to me as she parks the car and unbuckles her seatbelt.

" As ever." I replied sarcastically while giving her a thumbs up and a huge smile. She laughs and gets out the car with my following behind her as we shut the car doors in unison.

' Please be good to me senior year' I think to myself as I walk up the brick steps of a way too familiar place.
