I was suddenly awakened by a strong scratching noise at my window. Fear filled my mind almost paralyzing me. “Who is that!” I bellowed through the room. Only the whisper of the wind seemed to reply. “I said who is that!” I cried in a futile effort for an answer. Never minding the paralyzing sensation in my bones, I rose from my warm bed. Step by step I dragged myself closer to the wall. My fingers scampered over the coarse surface searching for the switch. Bang, Bang! A loud noise came from outside once more. Adrenaline pumped through my entire anatomy at that moment and as quick as lightening I flipped the switch. My heart raced now as my eyes scanned the room for any sign of movement but nothing caught my eye. My anxiety lessoned and I felt just a bit safer. Still shaking in my pants I curled up under the light.
About 20 minutes passed of my eyes closed drifting off into the dream world. Suddenly I felt the greet of hands wrapped around my neck. His strong hands accompanied by his sharp, long nails ripped into my flesh. I struggled but it was as he tried effortlessly to overpower me. In that quick and specific instant I stared into his eyes, eyes out for my wealth, out for all I have loved. I gasped for breath as his grip tightened. I mustered I meagre amount of strength to stand but could find non to fight a promising battle. “I know who you have become and what made you the man you are!” he spoke with an insidious grin on his face. This now relieving all doubt that he was on a mission of triumph.
In a flash I decided that my life was not for him and I kicked him between his legs confirming he indeed was human. “Awwwwww!” he moaned in agony as he groped his crotch. I sprinted to my bed side. With my heart now in hand I pulled for my dagger under the pillow where my head once laid and sliced a times at the approaching abomination. This soon become tiring and futile so swiftly I held it firm between my hands. I saw now the intersection where roads led to death and life. I sought to turn to the lane of life for embracing death was not on my agenda. By a burst of adrenaline I drove the dagger clean through his abdomen ensuring I damaged him critically I twisted the blade returning the pain he has shown me.
“Soon and very soon you will be out of my life for good and my wealth will never be yours, my life will never be yours.” Those were the words that brought me back, back to the world of the living. Those are the words that finally pronounced that I had kill all my regrets and bad decisions. Those were the words that made me alive again.
