Chapter 18: Love

As music continued to play throughout the grey sewer walls Thomas walks in, with a basket full of food.
He's been the delivery boy for some time now. Occasionally bringing me food.

Right after doing his job Penny would force him to leave, giving Penny and I some alone time.
Every now and then Penny would lose balance and fall over. He was getting weaker by the day. A foreshadowing to his long sleep.
Penny is also getting hungrier, making his hunts longer. Less time I could spend the day with him.
Every time Penny closes his eyes I fear they won't ever open. Making me beg him to stay awake, but he reassured me it's not yet time.

Also everyday now we play games. Whether it's hide and seek, charades, or tag, we play one game everyday.
Penny's rules.
I'm not sure why but, it makes me happy.

Another thing is that every night, Penny puts his ear to my stomach and just listens. He lets out giggles and purrs and talks about himself and about me to his "little one" as he likes to call him. Once he's done rambling about, he kisses my stomach ever so softly and falls asleep next to me. Holding me close. Penny does this every night, never missed one.

Penny's affection has improved. Every now and then he presses kisses on my forehead or lips. Caresses my body as I lay next to him. I fall deeper and deeper in love with him as the days go by.
Who wouldn't?

"My love?" Penny calls out as he stood up against the wall.

I turn towards his direction and began to walk towards him.

"Yes?" I respond, with a slight smirk.

Penny grabs me by my hands and pulls me in close, tightening his squeeze while still being gentle at the same time.

"I don't want to leave you. You completed me." Penny whispers into my ear. His voice was shaky and tender.

I could feel my tears brimming up as I heard his slow heartbeat thumping.

"How much longer Penny?" I said as my voice began to crack.

"Two days..." Penny answered as he began losing balance again.

I quickly caught him and walked him to the mattress. He was so weak and weary. Penny kept yawning and yawning constantly.

"I'll make you a promise. I'll stay awake for you until the time comes, ok?" Penny says as he laid his head on my lap.

I nod my head in agreement. Casually stroking his hair.

"Penny? Can I ask you something?" I said as I kept caressing hair.

"Mmhm." Penny mumbled.

"Have you ever been in love before meeting me? " I asked.

Penny stood silent for a few seconds before answering.

"Yes." He responded back.

I have to admit my heart did hurt a little, but I did ask him the question.

"What happened? I asked, as I laid my head on his shoulder.

"She didn't love me. She only saw the monster." Penny says with a blank tone.

"When was this?" I questioned.

"1915. After that, I stopped looking for interests in humans, until you came along my dear." Penny said as he sat back up, yawning.

I grab Penny's hand and bring it up to my mouth, kissing it lightly.

Penny quickly pushes me on the mattress and jumps on top of me, being careful on not leaning in his whole body weight. As he pinned me down he brought my hands up above my head. Pinning them down too. His face inches away he begins kissing me. Going from my lips to cheek to neck. I could hear his muffled purrs as he kissed into my neck.
He lets go of my hands and starts caressing my body, trying to break away from the kiss.
Penny begins to unbutton himself slowly, I could tell he wasn't trying to rush things. I also began to undress myself, before I knew it we were both exposed and vulnerable.

Penny stops kissing and sits up slightly, looking down at me. He stared at my body and smiled slightly.

"Beautiful, yet fragile."Penny says.

I smile.

We made love again that night. This was was our last intimate time together.

I love you Penny...
