Unexpected Baby

Pregnant? How?

I gave up hoping to fall sleep around three this morning. I have been having many sleepless nights for about a week, which was giving me lots of nausea all day long. I have been vomiting a lot too as side effects I guess. 

I was not worried, but Carm sure was. She made me go to the doctor yesterday. They said that we would receive the results today in the mail. Maybe that's why I could not sleep last night. I could feel that something was wrong but could not figure out what it was.

  "Hey cupcake" I heard Carm said behind me. "What's going on?"   

"Nothing." I answered. "I just could not sleep and was watching some funny videos on YouTube." I could see the worries in her eyes as I turned around to kiss her. 

"Hey, it's gonna be alright." I tried to reassure her. She's been so protective of me after almost losing me in that pit to her mother. A year has passed but that did not change things for her. 

"I hope so," she said while taking me into her arms. She acts like a tough, bad ass vampire around the others but she is a softy when she is with me. I smile while thinking about that.

"What?" Carm asked.

"Nothing. I just like when you worry to much is all."

"That's because you, Laura Hollis, is my everything. Many centuries have passed, many people encountered, and yet you were the only one worth saving. So, I am not risking any chance of losing you now." 

There was nothing to say except show her my love through a tendered kiss. 

"Come on, I'll make you breakfast." She offered while lifting me from the chair.

I was sitting in on front of my computer when the mail came. I quickly called Carm to come downstairs. I sat back in front of my computer and waited for her. 

She stayed behind me while I opened the envelop, a smirk on her first which I knew was just to cover her nervousness. 

"It says that I am in perfect shape, but what's that?" I say as I look at the bottom of the paper. We both froze when we saw what it says. 

"How is that possible?" Carm said first. I was still recovering from what I just read. "I know we've been trying for months but we were for next year after the last failure two months ago."

"I don't know Carm. We should go to the doctor now."

She grabbed her jacket and car keys while I quickly went up to exchange my purple shirt for something more descent.

"I have no idea how that happened miss Karnstein, but I will look into it right away." The doctor said. 

He called his assistant and asked for the appointment sheets and the other doctors shift schedule. 

"So, I see that you had a pap-test two weeks ago?"

"Yes" I answered.

"Okay, let's call in the doctor you met."

He asked his assistant to find the doctor while we waited. Carm was playing with my hand in the meantime. She was more nervous than me and I could not say whether it was because she was excited about the baby or she was worried about what happened.

"The doctor is here," his assistant said through the door.

"Please, let her in."

As the doctor who examined me entered the room, I felt Carmilla's body froze. She was fixing the woman like she was afraid of her? or surprised? I didn't know whether or not they knew each other.

My doctor was about to introduce us when I heard Carmilla say "Mother."
