My right leg was bouncing up and down, while my hands squeezed each other to the point of being painful. The walls around me were an annoying yellow color that resembled the color of some ones urine. There were only a few other kids my age in the room and most were acting just like me. The chair underneath me, was plastic and uncomfortable. I just want to get my scores, and head back home. Only God knows what my mother would do if I was gone to long. She's becoming harder for me to handle as time progresses and I don't know how much longer I can keep it up. People were starting to get suspicious.
Finally, after what seems like ages, a ragged, old lady with her hair tied back into a tight bun, that seemed to pull her whole face back, walked into the room I was sitting in. She was dressed in a simple grey skirt with a grey sweater on top; it seemed that all the color had been drained from her life. She stood there in the doorway for a second, before glancing down at the tablet in her hand.
She let out a soft sigh before she stated in a stern voice, "Cayden Rose, please follow me." Then she turn around and walked down the hallway, leaving me to scamper behind her.
When I caught up to her, she had been waiting outside a small room with a desk and two chairs on either side. I walked in and sat down at one of the chairs. I resumed my nervous position I had been in before and the sweat reappeared on my palms. Another long time period passed again, before the same old, grey lady walked in with two beefy guys by her side. The sweating on my palms increased and so did my shaking.
"W-what's going on?" I asked, my voice shaking. There was a lump lodged in my throat and no matter how many times I swallowed, it wouldn't go away.
"You see," she paused to look back down at the tablet, "Cayden, the score that you got when you took the Test wasn't high enough for you to be placed in a Class or Position. We are going to have to take you to a place where we can help you to become a better citizen of the Order." her voice never changed at all. It was still lacked emotion and interest.
"That's impossible. I couldn't of failed my Test. I worked so hard, this doesn't make any sense!" I said, jumping out of my chair so fast it fell backwards.
"It's the truth. Now, we are just going to strap you to this bed and take you to a better place for us to help you. Just calm down."
"No! I won't go with you! This has to be a mistake! I know I had to have done well on it, I just know!" By now I was shouting and backing away from the people who were in the room with me.
"How would you know? Did you cheat? That's even more reason for us to take you! Now stay still!"
I pushed one of the men away from me, but the other grabbed my arm and pulled it behind my back. He started to force me to move forward, but a loud bang from outside made all of us pause. I took the opportunity to kick him where it would hurt the most, which caused him to let go, and I made a run for the door. I almost reached the door handle, when the first man I pushed away grabbed me and put me back into the same position as before. The grey lady came up to me with a needle and I knew it had something in it to knock me out. I started to struggle even more because if whatever is in that needle gets put in my bloodstream, I'm toast.
"Ugh, let go of me!" I yelled.
Suddenly the door burst open and a teenage boy, around my age (16), came bursting in. The beefy man not holding me charged at him and tried to tackle him. As soon as he put one hand on the boy, he was taken down in under a minute. It wasn't enough time, however, to stop the lady from sticking the needle into my arm and injecting me with whatever was in it.
Shit was the last thought that went through my head as I fell to the floor and watched a blurry boy beat up everybody in the room, before everything faded to black.
