He picked up a small sharp edged stone, carefully tossed it from one hand to the other keeping his gaze on the beautiful city lights beautifully covering all the pain and sadness. It was hard to see through it but once you did, you could never look down at the city the same way.
With all the force he had, Yoongi threw the light small rock as if it was everything wrong with this world that he wanted to get rid of. He watched it disappear and then immediately picked up another one and threw it.
With every throw he seemed to gain more and more strength. With every throw he was a step closer to the edge of the cliff. With every throw he felt his shoulders relax a small bit. He didn't want to stop, he wanted to throw all the pain away, one rock at the time.
Yoongi didn't even realise but one more step and it all would be over. He picked up a stone and targeted a certain area he knew way too well.
"Woah, getting a little to close to the edge there" an unfamiliar voice exclaimed suddenly behind him making him look down and stumble backwards. Yoongi looked behind him but saw nobody, only the dark forest he'd come from earlier.
"That would have been one heck of a fall" The same voice chuckled a bit. Yoongi turned and saw a boy around his age peeking over the edge. The boy turned to look at him, with a smile that shined brighter than all the lights in the city. Yoongi stayed still not knowing what to say.
"I'm Jimin by the way. No need to thank me, you being alive is better than any small words" The boy smiled while walking towards him. Yoongi felt his cheeks heat up a bit even though he knew what Jimin actually meant with that. He looked down not really wanting to make eye contact.
"Than... I mean... umm" He rubbed his neck and kept his gaze on the ground. These awkward situations are one of the many things he came up here to get away from. How did this happen?
Jimin walked next to him and then sat down. Yoongi looked at him and saw him patting the ground next to him. After a bit of hesitation he sat down next to Jimin and took a deep breath in. He looked at the edge of the cliff where he'd just been standing giving him small goosebumps. One more step and it would have all been gone. This stranger had just saved his life.
"It's nice up here" Jimin sighed as he threw his head back and closed his eyes. Yoongi rested his head on his knees and nodded even though he knew Jimin couldn't see him.
"I've been coming here for a long time. It's my favourite place to come to, just to get away from everything" He let out. Yoongi felt oddly really comfortable around the boy he had only just now met.
"Coming here makes me feel like I can breath. Like I can stop for a moment and just breath" Yoongi continued this time also closing his eyes and taking another deep breath.
"It makes you feel like nobody can tell you how to be up here. You can drop your guard and be free" Jimin mumbled.
Both of them sat there for a while, taking everything in.
"What are you running from?" Jimin suddenly asks breaking the silence in the air. Yoongi sat up straight and turned to look at Jimin a bit shocked for some reason. He ended up not being able to look away. Jimins eyes, his lips, his skin and his hair. Yoongi had never seen anything so perfect before, looking away didn't feel like an option.
"What worries you?" Jimin hit him with another personal question. The confidence and kindness in his voice make it impossible not to answer.
Yoongi knew he'd let his guard down and for the first time he was ready to open up even though it was to a complete stranger.
