4x01: Taking Dawn Down (Part 1)

Previously on Under The dome:

Barbie: about one year ago the dome came down. Joe built a device to help us get to a frequency that would help take the dome down. Jim quickly learned that Christine and Eva were the ones at fault for the dome coming down on Chester's Mill when they tried to touch the egg that was in the woods. Joe shoved Norrie out of the way to step inside the circle to sing the last note and take down the dome to save us all. We were all split up into different rooms by the military and government for questioning for a long period of time. Then finally, they let us all go our ways on the promise that we keep what happened in Chester's Mill to ourselves and never let the outside world know exactly what happened. We found out that Dawn was still alive and outside the dome, Joe is in captivity by the military that Norrie joined with. And I am now engaged to Julia.

Jim slams his hand on the table, growing tired of waiting for an answer from the group. Julia is startled. "If you idiots aren't gonna fix the problem yourselves, I'll have my guys do it for you." Jim gestures one of his men out the door when Barbie replies with "no, if anybody is going to take care of Dawn, it'll be me." Julia lays her hand on Barbie's arm pulling him to the side with a concerned look. "You can't do this by yourself. Let me help, please!" Julia says with a wavering tone in her voice. "I'm not letting you get h-" "I'm not going to get hurt! I'm coming with you, and you're not going to stop me." Julia interrupts Barbie. "What if something happens to you? I would never forgive myself." "We're in this together. Always and forever." Julia leans in for a hug and Barbie puts his hand on the side of her face to pull her in and kiss Julia.

"Are you love birds done?" Jim says with an aggressive tone. "Hold on, we shouldn't rush this." Hunter says stepping into the conversation. "The hell we shouldn't! That thing is a threat to our safety. Not to mention to the whole world." Jim replies with a loud voice. "No, he's right. If we rush into this, Dawn will catch on and bury herself to where it's harder to find her. She'll take us out before we can ruin whatever plan she has." Julia says. "Jim, you may have the weapons and power, but you don't have any strength against something like a robot." Hunter replies, showing his laptop and research to Jim. "She's literally the real version of artificial intelligence. You know those alien movies?" "Stop talking nonsense, aliens aren't real." Jim says butting in. "No, it's a movie. Sigourney Weaver? Ripley? Are you kidding me? None of you have seen i-" "get to the point, Einstein." Jim interrupts. Hunter rolls his eyes and takes a breath, "the artificial intelligence in the movies are just like what Dawn is. The androids look, talk, feel, eat and do basically everything like a normal human being. But on the inside, they look like a complex computer system. Basically, when they're shot, they look like they're dead for about 10 seconds but they also come back. You have to destroy their entire existence before they're completely disintegrated."

"So in other words, we have little chances to be able to-" Julia hesitates and cautiously looks at Barbie. "Take her down." Jim sits back down in his chair with a look of near defeat. "But if we've survived with her under the dome, we should be able to find a way to do it out here." "Not exactly. When we were all in Chester's Mill, we were an isolated government. There was much less space to allow us to do things. People couldn't run very far. Now, we have to fight against the same thing but with the whole world, multiple countries, and possibly outer space." "That thing can't get into space." Jim replies with a snarky tone. "If that thing can survive whatever hole Barbie threw it in, pass the military, and survive an entire year outside the dome without military bringing her in, I'm guessing she can easily get access to space." "Alright, instead of debating what Dawn can do, can we get a plan?" Barbie says forcing himself back into the conversation. "I propose we get close to her and when one of us has her trust, we let the military step in and take her." Hunter says. "Barbie is the only one that can get near her. I want to be behind the scenes, making sure that bitch goes down." Julia replies with a demanding voice. "So we're just going to do this for months? Who knows how long until we gain trust." Jim chimes in. "Or, we can give her an incentive to trust us." Hunter says with a smirk on his face. "Okay, like what?" Barbie says with curiosity. "The one thing she wanted to control is people. She can't control the whole world, yet. But if you convince her that you want the same things as her, she'll trust you. Just like when we had weird personalities being dedicated to the kinship. Barbie was one of the people that was the hardest to get back to normal. If you convince her that you're back to your kinship self, she might just trust you enough for you to get us near her." Hunter replies.
