"Fuck." I say without much hesitation.
"What's wrong?" A voice behind me asks, it sounds familiar.
"Ah. Um. Nothing, I just dropped this book. Sorry to disturb you, I'm not good with words." I say without turning around. I pick it up and put it back on the table. I felt a tap on my shoulder, so I turn around. My jaw drops.
"Y-You're Vic Fuentes." I say, while covering my mouth.
"Oh, so you're a fan. It's kind of funny, we never bump into our hometown fans." He smirks.
"Hell yeah, I'm a fan."
He chuckles and says, "Yeah, I saw your shirt earlier."
"Oh, I didn't even realize, I have so many."
"You seemed like that type. So, why ya here at Costco alone? You don't seem like the buying in bulk type."
"I come here to see what books they had, Barnes & Noble is hella expensive and I love to read."
"Ah, that's cool, reading is cool."
I don't know how I'm being so calm right now. I'm flipping out inside and I'm shaking on the outside. I can't vocalize how much this means to me. I don't know what to do, his band saved me. I finally respond after thinking about what to say for like 2 minutes.
"Yeah, I guess. Um, this is weird, but I just want to let you know that you saved my life and, um, I don't know how to thank you. Another thing, I have nothing to do the rest of the day and, well, would you like to go to lunch? My treat."
"Wow, we get that a lot, but it hits hard every time. I mean if you want to go to lunch, I'm up for that, just one thing, tell me your story. Your life story. It really interesting to hear about our fan's lives."
"I understand, I'm cool with sharing it with you, I feel like you'll understand."
"Where do you wanna go?"
"You're the guest. You choose."
"How about Lolita's?"
"The best Mexican Food in town, of course that sounds great!"
"See ya there?"
"Yup!" I respond excitedly.
A lunch with one of my idols, how'd I even manage having a conversation with him? I don't know, but I'm excited and need to get going.
I arrive at the restaurant to find Vic waiting for me in his big white pick-up truck. I knock on the window, he nods and hops out.
"Ready?" He asks with a smirk on his face.
"What'd you do? You're smiling weird."
"Let's just say that I invited a few friends."
"Wait, is it-" I look in the window and see Jaime, Tony, and Mike all sitting at a table, "Vic, it was insane enough meeting you. You didn't need to invite them."
"Yes, I did." He responds.
