I woke up the next morning groggy and grumpy. I heard my aunt's shrill cry across the hall telling me to get up. Just like yesterday, I went to my wardrobe, got dressed, and followed Aunt Matilda to the SUV where I began my day.
I told Aunt Matilda I was going down to the mail room yet again. She couldn't care less as long as I didn't get in her way. As I rode the elevator down to the basement, I was wondering who martin's partners were. Were the cool? Were they nice? I guess I'll find out soon.
" Ah Alaina, I see you've made it," Martin said hugging me.
I laughed, " Yes sir, I've made it."
" Good, good. My partners are around here somewhere," Martin called them, and they came around the corner.
One of them was around my age. He was around five door three and well built, I must admit. He had beautiful green eyes, black swooped hair, and the goofiest smile on his face. He seemed to have a child's personality.
The other partner was a woman. She was about in her late thirties, and she was very skinny. she had brown, curly hair ( which started to turn grey) that was down to her shoulders. She was a very short woman. She had blue eyes and a warm, welcoming smile.
" It's about time you two showed up. I thought I'd have to fish you out of the mail," Martin said in between laughs.
" I'm Sean," said the boy, " this is Francis."
" Hi, I'm Alaina." I stated politely.
" That's a lovely name," Francis acknowledged.
I smiled, " Thank you."
" Well, Alaina, if you want you can join them on their mail delivery," Martin offered.
" That'd be cool," I said.
" Well let's go!" Sean exclaimed while grabbing the mail cart.
I smiled as I followed Sean and Francis out the door. They taught me my way around the building. Sean have me advice on how to get in and out quickly. Francis gave me advice on how to keep the peace between employees and myself.
I payed close attention to my new friends as they taught me how to survive this company. I knew as long as I followed their advice I was safe. At the end of the day, I didn't want to leave them.
Later that night, Aunt Matilda asked if anything interesting happened during the day. she was obviously in a better mood than yesterday.
" I made some new friends," I offered.
" That's great sweetie!" Aunt Matilda shrieked, " you should go hang out with them out of work some time."
I nodded in agreement as I washed the dishes. I looked outside the window into the busy city. I wondered what would've happened if I hadn't had to move here. I continued to wash dishes as I thought of my family. I went to my room to give them a call.
" Hello?" My mom answered.
" Hi mom. It's me," I said.
" Alaina!! How are you sweetie?" mom asked.
" I'm fine. Except for the fact I'm in an overly crowded city with no plants anywhere," I said.
" You'll get used to it. Are you ok?" Dad said butting in.
" Yeah, I'm fine. I made some friends," I said.
They were smiling through the phone, I could tell.
" That's great sweetie. Well, we have to let you go. We shall talk to you later," they said before hanging up.
" Love you," I whispered before climbing into bed and drifting off into my dream fantasies.
