Hello, friends! So I realized I had been uh "head jumping" in my last chapters because I'm an idiot 99% of the time so my apologies! Thank you for reading!~
"KayToo, I'm back!" Cassian announced to the droid upon entry into the ship.
K2 spun its head around from the panels and analyzed the girl who was inspecting the cruiser. "I thought I detected another life form onboard."
"What, you've never seen the inside of a ship before?" Cassian said to Anya's back as she explored.
"I might be from Tatooine, captain, but I've been inside a space cruiser before." Anya scoffed, narrowing her eyes on K-2SO. "You used to be an imperial droid, didn't you?"
"Reprogrammed by Cassian Andor," K2 retorted, and raised the boarding ramp behind Anya.
"Do you have experience with programming?" Cassian led his new informant into the cockpit.
"My father did, but that was a long time ago." Anya sat in the passenger seat behind Cassian and K2.
"So, how did you find yourself in Moz Espa, Anya Navarre?" Cassian sat in the pilot's seat, Anya behind him and K2.
"I'm from Zaloriis, but after the Zygerrians raided the Syngia system, my planet and the others were enslaved, sold to the Empire, and eventually traded to the Outer Rim." Anya was for some strange reason not afraid to tell him this. "I worked on a moisture farm until I was nine, and then I was sold to Mos Espa as a bondservant."
"I thought Slavery was outlawed by the republic years ago," Cassian softened his tone, and turned his head to face her.
"Doesn't mean it doesn't still happen. The Outer Rim is famous for slave traders." Anya didn't mean to grieve him, but she couldn't deny the resentment she had for people like him. People who were ignorant of the oppression in the galaxy. It goes to show that both the Empire and the Republic are certainly not fit to create laws and represent people they just don't know.
"Well, the Empire is responsible for the attack on the Syngia system."
"Captain," Anya watched him as he engaged the propellors. "The raid took place before the Empire overthrew the confederacy. Meaning, what happened—happened under the Republic's watch."
There was silence in the cockpit, and Cassian scavenged his mind to find a change in subject.
"So, now I'm harvesting a fugitive onboard?" Anya appreciated Cassian's attempt to lighten the air, but truth is a funny thing. Once you know it, it doesn't leave you, and you don't forget it. "I guess it wouldn't be the first time."
