The Fox's Secret

~Chapter One~

Hey guys!! I've been working on this since I started moving like 2 years ago. This is all my idea too! Yay me..! Thank you for reading and please leave comments, so I know what I should improve on.

The bell rang, releasing us from the hell called school. I get up and walk out the back door, welcomed by a weak demon, who has yet to claim a body. It was crawling around on the ground, like a damn insect. The demon was a nasty green, like a swamp green. His eyes were bloodshot and huge, and looked as if they were about to pop out of the sockets. It was crawling around on six lengthy looking legs. Everyone else starts to approach me from behind and I remind myself that only fellow demons can see other demons. Thank the gods I was born on a higher tier, otherwise I'd be lurking around like that damn thing.

Sighing, I step over it, and start to my daily after school schedule. I grab for my list of groceries in my backpack, cursing silently as I rummage through my smallest pocket. How the hell do these things become like that damn bag Hermione has in Harry Potter, finding literally everything that I don't need. "Aha! You little fucker, I got you." I zip up my backpack and read it as I approach the grocery store. It was down the street from my high school, which also happened to be the halfway point to my apartment. Looking up, I enter the building, a gush of cool air hitting my face.

"Oh Mei! Back for more groceries?" Clara, the manager, asks in her gravely voice. She was in her mid to late 50's. She was wearing another one of her dresses today, but yet she always had that cute feel to her. Today she was in a white dress that had little red cherries on it, and a cute little red bow around the waist. Her hair was a dark brown with silver streaking it. Today she had her hair brought back in a tight bun. Her face was wrinkled slightly from the amount of sun her skin has seen. 

"You must have a large family, indeed." Clara is too observant, I think a little harshly. Its not my fault that demons tended to consume more than the average human. The fact that I lived alone and ate enough for an entire family made me smirk.

"Oh yes! My mama's pregnant with another one!" I lied. Clara nods with an understanding.

"Well tell your mom congratulations for me, will you dear?" She smiles brightly, her blue eyes shining with excitement. I felt a pang of guilt run through me. 

I smile back, "Okay, I'll be sure to," I stroll through the aisles, grabbing the things from off my list and checking them off, while accidentally getting some ice cream and Oreos in the cart. Oh how did that happen...

I check the time. "Shit! I'm going to be late for work!" I scramble to the checkout and Clara takes her time scanning my things, smiling and chatting about her dog, again. God I love this women and all, but she needed to hurry up. As soon as she finishes, I mutter out a thank you and run to my apartment. I fumble with my keys, while undoing my shirt, then kicking the door open when my key finally enters the lock. I put the groceries on the floor and throw my clothes in every direction, making my way to the closest. I pull out my uniform, a white blouse that folds into a diner styled, black skirt that goes down to my mid-thigh. I pull my socks on, then my typical white and black converse shoes. I grab my purse and keys, before running out the door to the diner. Thank the gods that it was only a block away.

The door chimes my entrance and on cue, I hear a voice from the back, "You're late Mei! Get your stuff and get to work. This doesn't happen often, so I won't make any punishments...this time!" My boss is such a nice guy. He threatens people with his punishments all the time, but I have yet seen him hold true to any of them. I smile and yell back a thank you, then go to my locker in the back of the diner to grab my things. I pull on an apron and grab the pad and pen. Checking myself in the mini mirror to make sure I looked okay, I nod slightly and head back out for work.
