Chapter Twentyseven - Paths

Paths

It had been two days since Helena became pregnant with a ghost child. Everyone kept obsessing over her and always making sure she was okay. Charlotte was two months through her pregnancy so Helena was showing a little.

Anyway, Helena woke up early so she could go for a walk. Harry would never allow it, she thought, he was too protective. Helena wrote him a note and quickly left. She hadn't realised she had walked so far when she came to the shack that Charlotte was in. Helena soon does a double take as she thought she saw someone standing near the shack. 'There couldn't be, no one comes here,' she thought.

Then Helena saw her again. The girl came around the corner looking lost and unaware of Helena's presence. The girl is dressed in complete black and had no shoes on. She had her back to her so Helena couldn't see her face.

When the girl turned Helena could have had a heart attack, if she was alive. She recognised Charlotte and she sees Helena before she can run.

How did she die?

Why?

"Excuse me?" A voice snapped her out of her thoughts. Charlotte had appeared in front of Helena and she was shocked, speechless. All these weeks protecting her and the child, and she died anyway.

"What's happened?" She asked.

"I'm sorry love, but your dead." Helena said. She stopped for a minute and thought about it. It hadn't really effected her like it had effected any of the rest of the gang. This reaction was almost like Liam's, Helena thought.

"What? If I'm dead, why am I here?" She asked, annoyed. She looked down and saw Helena's baby bump and a sad look came across her face.

"Look, I don't know why your here but now that you are, let me take you somewhere safe." Helena put her arm around Charlotte and they disappear into the living room. No one seemed to be awake yet.

That's weird, Helena thought, usually Niall is up really early. She told Charlotte to make herself comfortable on the lounge while she find the experts. Helena went upstairs and ran a massive bell that should wake everyone up. They agreed to only use it in emergencies and Helena thought that this counted. She casually walked back downstairs and a bunch of ghosts appeared in the living room.

Everyone looked at Helena like 'did we run out of toilet paper again'. That's funny because ghosts don't need toilet paper. Helena gesture to Charlotte and they all looked alarmed. Charlotte just smiled awkwardly and waved.

Five minutes later everyone was sitting on the lounges except Charlotte and Helena, they were sitting on stools.

"How did you die?" Perrie asked.

"Starvation, I think." Charlotte answered.

"You see how we are in pairs, except Niall and Liam." Charlotte just nodded.

"Well, if, in life, you find the person you were meant to spend the rest of your life and death with then you will be met up with them when you die. I am with Zayn, Helena is with Harry, Kimmy is with Liam and you..." Perrie faltered for a second. Helena took this chance to look over at Harry and smile and he smiled back.

He had the most beautiful smile, she thought.

"...you are with Liam." Helena finished. She smiled over at Perrie. Liam waved at Charlotte awkwardly and she waved back. There has been a lot of waving today. I am so glad we got that over and done with, Helena thought.

"You two will share the room Liam currently occupies." Perrie said tiredly.

"What? No offence, but I don't even know Liam." Charlotte said.

"None taken." Liam said, glumly.

"Well, if you do not wish to share with Liam just yet then feel free to use one of the spare rooms but do not blame me if they decide to fill up quickly." Perrie said to Charlotte as they started walking towards one of the rooms in which Charlotte will stay in.

"Were is Niall?" Louis asked. Everyone looked around for a second but they realised he wasn't there.

"I'll get him." Helena offered

She walked up the stairs to the second bedroom and knocked quickly but when no one answered she walked in. Helena's confusion grew as Niall's black bed has been made and the book Niall was reading wasn't on the bedside table.

That's weird, Helena thought.

She looked closer and found a small piece of paper in between the pillows. It read:

Hey Guys,

I'm sorry but I can't wait around for my Destiny. Seeing everyone together is too hard and I really want that. I will find Celestia and just see her. I just want to know what she looks like.

Love Niall

By the end of the letter Helena's eyes had brimmed with tears but she vowed not to let them fall. She ran back downstairs and showed the others. They all had the same reaction as Helena. Although, Kimmy let her tears fall freely.

Niall took off really early that morning. He did not regret his decision but regrets that he could not say goodbye. He would definitely be back, he was just not complete there, he thought. He saw everyone with their Destiny's and felt envious of them. He was determined to find Celestia.

But where does he start?

"Jace." Niall yelled, as loudly as he could.

"Jace!" He yelled again, "I know you can hear me!"

"What? What do you want?" Niall turned around with a smile and saw Jace standing there, fiddling with something in his hand. He looked up for a second and shook his head before looking down again.

"I'd like to know where I can look for Celestia. You don't have to tell me where she is, just where I can look for her. Please." Niall practically begged him to tell him. He looked up from his Rubik's cube and put it in his pocket.

"Niall," Jace said, "I can't tell you anything."

"Why, please tell me something." He moaned.

Jace sighed.

"You must find the place where the flags shine crimson,

Where the wind echoes and bubbles shape the sky.

People gather here by the dozen,

Where the young are born and the elderly fly." He said. Then he was gone.

"What? What the hell does that mean?" Niall yelled into thin air.

Niall was going to have to solve Jace's riddles by himself this time.
