"Miss Acharya, can I please talk to you for a minute?" Mrs Louise called out in her miniature, soft voice.

"Sure." I nodded, making my way over to her desk.

Luckily the classroom was entirely empty now, so it was much easier to hear her voice.

"As you probably already know, Lauren is leaving this school next week. Which means you would no longer have a lab partner."

My lip lifted into a half-smile. "Yeah."

"Well, our new student, S-Stefan," She stuttered, seemingly hesitant to say his name. "Also doesn't have a lab partner. So you two shall be lab partners for the rest of the year."

I choked on air as I croaked out a, "What?"

Mrs Louise smiled, obviously deliberately ignoring my clearly horrified facial expression. "Please do inform him about this, okay?"

The look in her eyes was like a silent beg. It was evident that she was scared shitless of him, thus why she didn't hold back the both of us to tell us the glorious news. Note the heavy use of sarcasm in 'glorious'.

I muttered a forced, "Sure."

She smiled oh-so-innocently. "Excellent! Good luck— I meant, goodbye! Oh and, I'm glad your sore throat is feeling better now."

I casted her a big, fat, fake smile before stomping out of the classroom.

Was she nuts?! As if I would willing ever talk to him—

My entire body froze. I promised Stefan that I would hang out with him at recess, which was right now.

My palm met my forehead in a major facepalm. Why was I so stupid? No wonder why I dropped a rank!

Crap, oh crap! What was I going to do? If I come, he might beat me up. If I didn't come, he might beat me up even more!

After several minutes of extreme mental debate, I finally made the biggest decision of my life (probably literally). I spun on my heels, my quivering body making its way towards the library tree.

I entered the cafeteria, my body still quivering like crazy. After taking three steps, I immediately took a u-turn and ran to the cafeteria. Call me a coward — but you can't blame me for trying to spare my life!
