i've decided to stop setting goals for the next chapter because it isn't working. i've had this chapter ready to post forever. from now on i'm posting when i have time and when i see people sharing their opinions on my book.

whoever created the saying "new year, new me" can suck my ass. it's the only thing i've heard for the past 24 hours and the only instagram caption i've seen all day.

today is the day i leave for new york. i've already said goodbye to all my friends and packed my stuff. my parents are sad that i'm leaving which makes no sense to me because they're the ones sending me away.

"annie baby, i'm going to miss you so much." my mother cried.

"then don't send me away," i whined like a baby.

"how else are you going to learn your lesson?" my dad firmly stated.

"i get it, i get it." i rolled my eyes.

"you need to head to the airport or else you are going to miss your flight," my dad warned.

"oh god annie, i'm going to miss you," hayley said nearly crying. although hayley and i are nearly complete opposites she's still my sister and i don't want to hurt or neglect her. the night before she had slept in my room with me and to be honest, we didn't get much sleep because we stayed up talking the whole night.

"hay i promise i will text you everyday and you can always call me if you need something. besides, we've got to keep our streak," i said smiling and trying to hide my sadness.

my parents had to go to work so i ordered an uber and it came within 10 minutes. i got to the airport and checked in and headed to security. after a long line i made it through with 20 minutes till my plane started boarding. i sat in starbucks and watched friends until i heard the boarding call for my flight.

on the plane i sat next to an old couple who slept the whole time and being that it was a super short flight it was okay. when i arrived la guardia in new york city i got my bag from the carrousel and looked for a sign with my name on it. i finally found a sign that said julianna 'j' leblanc and holding it was the one and only elliot hawkins.

"hey j," elliot said with his classic smirk stuck on his face.

"hello elliot," i huffed.

"grumpy much?"

"only for you," i jokingly winked.

"come on, we have to get a taxi." elliot lead me outside. he hailed a cab and we got inside he gave the driver his address while i sent a text to my mom.

to mom:
made it to nyc, elliot picked me up and we are heading to his house.
-
from mom:
glad you got there safely! have fun but stay safe!!

after an awkwardly silent cab ride we finally arrived to their apartment or should i say penthouse. elliot payed and i grabbed my bags. a doorman opened the door for us and elliot got me a key made at the front desk and put me on their guest list. we went all the way up to the 11th floor which was the top floor and elliot opened the door to their home.

"aubrey, luke, she's here!" elliot screened when we walked through the front door. "my parents are working right now but they'll be home at 6:30," he explained.

aubrey came sprinting down the stairs, "annie!" she yelled tackling me in a hug.

i laughed at her previous action and said, "hey aubrey."

"okay let me give you a tour!" she screeched still in our hug.

"no i wanted to." luke pouted walking down the stairs.

"good try guys that's my job," luke said pulling aubrey off of me and grabbing my arm.
