Chapter 10: The Ripping

Klaus finally approached us and I knew it was time for Jenna to go, I used my eyes to plead with her to run, but she turned away refusing to look at me.

"Klaus, please let her go. I know that I have to die, but she doesn't." I begged.

"Liana, don't." Jenna told me sternly.

"Jenna please. We can't leave Jeremy and Elena all at once." I said with tears welling in my eyes. "Think about Alaric. I—Please."

"I don't recall you being on my guest list." Klaus said, confusing Jenna and me. I turned behind me to see Stefan standing on top of a cliff.

"He's here to talk. Very well." Klaus sped up to the cliff and walked calmly toward a very nervous Stefan.

~Bonnie POV~

"We found something in the journals!" John told everyone gleefully. "Johnathan journaled the story of a mother who called on Emily's services. The woman's baby was sick; dying. Emily cast a spell that would bind the woman's life force with her child."

"How about we just skip to the part where we save Iliana?" Damon said, fed up with the theatrics.

"Well, the child died, but the mother's life force flowed through her, restoring her to life." John continued. "If Iliana dies, then she'll come back to life."

"If her soul remains intact." Jeremy said nervously.

"Her soul?" Damon said sceptically. "You're gonna put your faith in some act of god mumbo jumbo?"

"Call it whatever you want, mystical energy, the power of God—it's all we got." John shot back. "So yes, I'm putting my faith in it."

~Iliana POV~

"What's going on?" Jenna asked as we watch Klaus and Stefan talk on the clifftop.

"I don't know." I mumbled. "But you can hear them. You just need to focus on them." She turned to them doing her best to focus but she sighed angstily.

"I can't make it out." She huffed.

"You can do this, Jen." I told her. "Just relax, and focus."

"Okay." She nodded her head and her eyes widened. "I can hear them."

"What are they saying?" She looked back at me horrified by what was said.

"No. No, no, no!"

"What is it?"

"He wants to take my place."

~Bonnie POV~

"Come on, Bonnie we got a hybrid to kill." Damon told her as she finished up her spell.

"We are not killing Klaus." Elena told him.

"It's done." Bonnie said. She turned to Jeremy and gave him a warm hug, "I'll be back soon."

"What? No, I'm coming! I need to make sure you guys are okay." Jeremy told her.

"And who's going to take care of you?"

"I've got my ring. Bottom line, is I'm coming." Bonnie leaned up and kissed him, she sighed as he started to stumble and John caught him.

"Just go Bonnie. I'll stay with him." He told her.

"Don't even think of trying that with me." Elena snapped. "I'm coming. I am not going to lose anyone today. Especially not my twin sister who is giving up her life for me. Besides, I need to make sure that you guys don't kill Klaus."

"Do not let her come, Bonnie." Damon commanded her but the witch rolled her eyes and turned to her friend.

"Stay out of sight, okay?" She turned to Elijah who nodded at her and the four of them made their way to the quarry.

~Iliana POV~

"This is no how it was supposed to go." I said sadly as Stefan and Klaus came back and joined us. "Stefan..."

"It's okay." He replied with a comforting smile.

"I'll let you choose, Iliana." Klaus told me quietly. "Your aunt, or your sister's boyfriend?"

"Neither" I said starting to sob, I knew Klaus was going to leave it. I could see it in his eyes.

"Me." Jenna said quietly. "I want to die."

"Jenna, no!" I shrieked.

"That's how it is, Klaus. I'm gonna kill your witch, or your gonna kill me." She sped through the fire, ignoring the pain of the flames and lunged for Greta, biting her neck ferociously. Klaus pulled her off her and threw her to the side.

"Do you have any idea how lucky you are? If not for Iliana here, you'd be very dead." He sneered angrily at my aunt.

"Liana. Please." Jenna looked at me pleadingly and I turned to Stefan who nodded at me.

"Okay." I muttered, starting to cry. "Just turn it off, okay? So you won't be scared." She nodded and smiled at me through the tears before Klaus staked her through the heart.

"What was the point Klaus?" Stefan yelled as I kept my eyes locked on Jenna's greying body. "Because you're not gonna kill Iliana, we all know that. So why kill her?" I looked at him and realised that he was stalling. They were coming to kill him. Before I could even warn him the sound of Bonnie's chants could be heard coming towards us. Klaus's body began to contort painfully and Elijah quickly snapped the neck of Greta.

"Iliana!" Elena yelled out to me. "You're alive. Thank God. Jenna?" I looked at Jenna's greyed body and Elena began to sob with me.

"It's all my fault." I told her apologetically.

"No, no it's not." She assured me. "I promise that he won't die."

"What?" I asked her incredulously.

"You're not gonna lose everyone in one go." She said defiantly.

"I'm sorry, Elena." Damon came from behind her and put her in a sleeper hold until she fell to the ground, unconscious.

"What did you do?" I asked him horrified.

"We're gonna kill Klaus." He answered bluntly. "Sorry, not sorry."

Looking at the man that I loved, extraordinarily more than I should have, I ran towards him and pulled the stake out of Jenna's decayed body.

"Klaus. I need you to know that I love you, which is why you have to do this." I told him tears streaming down from my eyes. I put Bonnie under with the five-finger sleeper moved and waved the stake in front of Damon, Stefan and Elijah.

"What are you doing?" Klaus asked me worriedly.

"You need to kill me, so you can become a hybrid. Then they won't be able to kill you." I told him sadly.

"No." He said as tears began to stream from his own face. "You can't make me do it."

"Actually, I can." I pulled out the serum I had made from Stefan's blood. "This is a ripper serum. Once it's in your bloodstream, I'll cut myself and you won't be able to control yourself. You'll kill me and become a hybrid. It'll leave your bloodstream soon enough and you'll be back to normal afterwards."

"Please Iliana. I love you. Don't make me do it." He said as everyone around us looked on terrified. I leaned up and kissed him with the tears in my eyes unrelenting.

"I love you too." I injected the serum into him and watched him contort as his ripper face came out. I cut a gash in my arm and ignored the screams of Damon and Stefan trying to stop me but I was too close to Klaus. He bit me and fed off me until there was nothing but darkness.
