Chapter 1

He was running as fast as he could from the Orphanage. He did not like it there at all, this little boy by the name of Slade was orphaned at the age of 7, is now the age of 9. Ever since he was forced to go to that offal dark gray stone, concrete structure with small rooms and cots for beds. Ever since that day he has been trying to escape. Slade could hear the sirens of the cops coming closer and closer. He was escaping once again on his skateboard. Times like this when he didn't really care if he got in trouble again he loved the feeling of the wind flowing though his shaggy black hair and for once his bangs were in his eyes. When he wasn't paying attention to what was going on around him he felt someone ripping him off of his Skateboard and thrown him to the hard cold black pavement of the road. He swears under his breath. “Alright son this is the 3rd time that you have ran away from this nice lady Mrs. Russel, I don't understand why you would want to run away from such a purity lady like her.”

The cop said with a smile and wink at the woman. Slade just started making gagging noises and shouted. “Hey ya, would you two mind of remembering about me! It's kinda cold here on the ground since it's oh I don’t know about April and my face is shoved in some slush!”

“Now that will be enough out of you boy!” The officer roughly pulled Slade up off of the ground. His Blue jeans and his black t-shirt were soaked and that if he didn’t get out of those clothes soon he was going to catch a nasty cold. Mrs. Russel turned to the officer and said “Thank you ever so much. How can I ever repay you?” She expressed her hint by touching his arm and winking at him. Slade made a dash for it into the green thorny rose bushes that happened to be nearby. He then took off across back yards and jumped over tall fences to his secret hiding place. His special hiding place was an old abandoned Mansion. The front of this once beautiful home was a great big iron gate with a stone driveway leading up to the house. The path to the house had a beautiful oak door which look liked the weather had not affected it and was just put in the day before. Slade opened the door and switched on the light. When his eyes adjusted he saw the grand hall all lit up like the full moon shining on a clear summer night. The source of this power was the grand crystal chandelier. On the white walls there hung portraits of the people that lived there before it was abandoned. As he continued down the hall, he entered his favorite room that he had dubbed as his own.

Gazing upon this room he saw his wondrous 4 poster canopy king sized bed with red 600 count Egyptian cotton sheets for the bedding. The bedding look as if it hasn't been washed in a few weeks but Slade does not care, all he cared about at that one moment that they were soft and warm, and no one could find him. After a quick nap he wandered the halls and he stumbled across the kitchen. With wondering eyes he looks around and imagines what it would have been like to be here when the family was still here, with the 2 ovens hot and running, giving off a mouth watering smell of a Turkey baking. Pots and pans and other often used utensils were hanging on a rack above the island. Slade prepared to see what is in the fridge today for him to eat. He hears a strange noise coming from underneath the cabinet, he ignored the noise thinking that it was just a mouse. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a small human like figure tumble out of the cabinet. Shocked Slade grabbed the nearest thing to him and started shouting, “How...Who who are you! I demand you to tell me who you are!” This human like figure turned out to be a small girl. She started giggling when she saw that the young boy in front of her had a plastic spoon to defend himself with. “What are you going to do with that? Eat me? You can't hurt me with a plastic spoon.”

“Y..Yes I can and I would if I had to.”

“Oh please I know that you’re that little Orphan boy that keeps running away from the Orphanage ran by that witch.”

“How do you know about Mrs. Russel?

“I know of her because she is my mother.” Slade was so shocked when he heard that news that his jaw dropped and he dropped his “weapon” Slade dashed from the room so fast and scared that this girl would turn him in so he decided to go back to the orphanage on his own and apologize to Mrs. Russel. Slade ran back to the orphanage. When Slade arrived there he ran quickly to Mrs. Russel's office knocked on the door like good gentlemen should. “Come in” responded Mrs. Russel from inside of her office. He entered timidly. “Oh, Slade I didn't realized that the officer had brought you back.”
