"But I've already paid for this month!" It took a lot of willpower to hold himself back. Jason clenched and unclenched his jaw multiple times while staring at the stubby, old man in front of him. Jason watched as the landlord idly flicked his lighter a couple of times before bringing it close to the cigarette that was clamped between his dried lips. "I'm not packing." The ends of Jason's lips curled down into a snarl while his hands on the door and door frame crumble slightly under his tighten hold.

The landlord gave Jason an unamused look before looking at the chipped wood that crumbled down to the ground pathetically under Jason's hold. "You got no choice, son." The landlord took a long drag before releasing the intoxicating smoke out.

"Don't call me 'son'." The back of Jason's throat growled softly. The smoke hit his chest as it bounces off and encasing his body for a mere second before disappearing into the air. Jason's nose crinkled a bit. 'Rude.'

Dismissing the growl from Jason, the landlord pulled back his sleeve to look at the watch. "The demolition workers are coming this afternoon." Dropping the sleeve back down, he heaves a heavy sighed at Jason. "Everyone has already cleared the building, son." The landlord paused when Jason sent a glare in his direction. "You're the only one left."

And with that, Jason slammed the door shut in the land lord's face before turning around to run a hand through his hair. "Fuck." He muttered under his breath before pulling out his phone. He didn't really know who he was looking for but when his thumb stopped on top of a certain name, he grumbled before calling the said person.

He holds the phone against his ear, listening to the annoying sound of the rings as he heads to his room. Rummaging through what he had in his closet. "Hello? Jason?" Hearing Dick's voice made the insides of Jason squirm.

Jason holds the phone on his shoulders as he throws his clothes into his bag. "Hey, yeah, it's me." He awkwardly grumbled out. "I'm getting kicked out." Carefully, Jason picked up the couple of guns that were stashed at the bottom of his closet.

"Again?" He could hear Dick sighing out. The slight shuffling of bedsheets was heard and Jason couldn't help but snort. "What did you do?"

"Nothing this time." Jason felt a smirk tug at the corner of his lips at the mental image of Dick looking somewhat surprised. "The building is getting sold and the workers are coming to demolish the damn thing." The smirk was then lost on Jason's face.

"Why not bunk over with Roy?"

Jason gives a dry laugh. "I'm not sure his partner would be happy about that." He grumbled again.

"Hotel?"

"No money used it all on rent." Another heavy sigh was heard from Dick. "So, I was thinking if I could-"

"No." Dick cut Jason off. "I mean, I would, of course, let you crash, but.." Dick raised his head off his pillow to look at the door, distant shouting was heard and various loud stomping feet could be heard.

"You already sheltering another couple of fuckers?" Jason snorts.

"Don't call them that." Dick reprimanded as his head fell back onto the pillows. "You know, there's always the maniso-"

"No way." Jason's face turned sour.

"It's that or go live on the streets."

"Can't you squeeze me in?" Jason zipped the bag and sat at the foot of the bed.

"Get a job."

"I do have a job."

Dick narrowed his eyes. "A proper job, Jason." Dick listens from the other side of the line as Jason clicks his tongue. "I can always get you a temporary spot in the force-"

"The irony."

"Not really." Both sides became quiet.

"I'll call later." Jason sighed out heavily before ending the call without listening to what Dick had to say. He stood up and slung the bag over his shoulder, tucked his hands in the pocket of his jeans as he dragged his feet out of the apartment that was once called home.

Jason's bag hits the brick wall with a dull thud. The noise echoes down the alleyway as Jason plants himself down beside the bag. Back pressed against the slightly damp wall, he runs a hand through his hair again. He didn't get to brush it properly this morning. Not liked he cared. He let the rain continue to pour on him. There was no use on trying to find a proper shelter now.

His mobile rang as he took it out to look at the picture of Dick. Pressing the answer button he tucks it between his shoulder and ear. "'Ello." He answered gruffly as he stuffed an unlit cigarette between his lips. "Doing fine, living in a cardboard box, now excuse me, I need to decorate it." He ends the call. Deep down, he acknowledges the pettiness he held from the earlier conversation with Dick. He puts his phone on silent.

In one hand, he fiddles with the end of his phone case while the other one searched through his pocket for his lighter. He grunts annoyed as he pulled out a couple of gum wrappers and other junk that he had forgotten to take out. Flipping out the lighter, his thumb rolls on the spark wheel a couple of times as sparks emit from the cheap lighter. A fire then erupts from the lighter, and quickly Jason cups a hand around the fire.

Feeling the warmth that the fire provided, he couldn't help but stop and stare at the vibrant colors as the fire flickers against the wind. The day had already gone by, and the stars and moon had already taken over, making the fire even brighter than before in the alleyway. It reminded him of a campfire or the fireplace back at hom-

He groans out loud and takes his thumb off the ignition button as he rests his head on his knees. 'Pathetic.' He thought bitterly towards himself as he shuts his eyes. Letting the cold droplets of rain run down the back of his neck and some rolling down the side of his cheeks. He shifted the cigarette from one end of his lip to the other as he steadily listened to the rain.

His gloved fingers tighten on his leather jacket as he grimaced at the lonely feeling sinking into the core of his chest. Loneliness was something that he wanted right now, wasn't it?

Tap Tap Tap

The rain above him stopped, but Jason could clearly hear the sound of the rain's downpour. The odd tapping sound was also heard from above him as well. It sounded like rain hitting the surface of an umbrella. Slowly, he raised his head up to see someone holding a clear umbrella over his head. You. His eyes widen slightly along with yours. "You're a beautiful guy." The cigarette in Jason's mouth slowly slipped out from his parted lips and fell onto the dirty damp guy. "What's a beautiful guy like you doing out here?" You asked gently as you tucked your free hand behind your knees and crouched down to his eye level.

Jason could feel his throat constrict slowly, and painfully as the sound of the rain continued to hit against the top of your umbrella. "Can you talk?" You tilted your head slightly to the side to get a better look at his face. There was just something the way your eyes softened upon him made the blood rush to his head screaming. It pounded painfully that he could feel a headache coming from behind his eye as his heart unwillingly hammered against his ribcage. He watched as your pretty face frowned slightly before looking up at the moon that had illuminated the dark alleyway before back down to Jason. "I guess I can stay." You untuck your free hand and rest your elbow on your knee, and your chin in the palm of your free hand. "You can sit under my umbrella."

You let a smile grace your lips as Jason could feel the rush of blood colour his cheeks. "Ella, ella, eh, eh."
