I was three years old when my father passed away. I am a twin. I am Amber Lynn. My sister's name is Christa Rae. We lived in New York City. Was it the life, I can't tell you because I was way to young to even think of that. My father, Captain Charles Louis, died in the nine eleven towers. He was saving a pregnant woman's life when the plane hit. He called my mom, Elaine Louis, and told her that he loved her and kiss us girls because. Dad's not coming home. Even thinking of what he said, still to this day makes me cry. Although my sister and I barely knew our father. Everyday, we know he's watching us. I was in my English class and I realized, Daddy won't see me play softball, Daddy won't see me go to Prom in a few weeks, Daddy won't walk me down the aisle, And most of all, Daddy won't see his first grand baby. I sat and cried, the teacher knew why I was crying, everyone else was running to me trying to get me to stop crying.
My sister and I play Varsity Softball at our school. Every game, doesn't matter if it's home or away, we put in pen on our arms, Daddy, I love you. A girl from the other team saw the writing and laughed at me, I walked over and told her why I have the writing on my arm. She never spoke to me again. Christa was batting and our head coach was at third telling her what to do. She told Christa, in signs, to hit hard for Daddy. The pitcher made the perfect pitch to hit. Christa hit it all the way passed centerfield and got a homerun. As she stepped on home plate, she started crying. Because she knew. Daddy was with us. As we were playing Defense. I was second baseman and Christa was first. Number 12 hit the ball straight to me and I threw it to Christa. One down, two to go. Number 17 hit the ball straight to Christa. I ran to the first base bag and got her out. Two down, one to go. Our friend, Katie was on third. Number 91 hit the ball straight for Katie. Katie threw it to Christa, Three down, none to go. We won, 20-5. I received the game ball for one reason, and one reason only. For Daddy. We framed it and put it on his special shelf. I went to his grave the next day and put Christa's bat on it with a note that read: Daddy, I hope your having fun in Heaven. Christa and I are going to prom soon. I just wanted to tell you that. I love you and miss you so much. Love. Amber Lynn and Christa Rae Louis, Your beautiful daughters.
It was one week before prom and Christa an I had our dresses. I wore a red dress and she wore a blue dress. My mom cried when she saw us together with our dates. I was going to prom with the captain of the football team, Tyler Lathan. Christa went with captain of the basketball team, Sam Johnston. We were popular, yes but there was a price for being popular at the time. We had to do freshman's homework, run a mile during our free period, and even tell the senior hot boys that we were nerds that needed money to do all of their homework so they could make out with the hot girls on Friday nights. Christa and I have been tourchered for years by people in our class and outsiders. I was the one who kept Christa from going to heaven to be with our dad. If it wasn't for me being home, she would be dead.
The day came of prom. I was so excited to go with my date. Tyler and I were dating for almost a year when we went to prom. A bunch of friends got a limo to rent to go there.
