Lydia
"Father Father get us out I don't know what to do" "Lydia it will be fine just calm down and go get your mothers picture" I ran as fast as I could knowing that picture was the only thing we had left of her! Hurricane Katrina was coming, this was something New Orleans would never forget! Me and my father huddled together under the floor boards hoping something good would come out of this. Though we have never really been that lucky. When I was two my mom was diagnosed with Cancer me and my father prayed that she would make it but sadly she didn't. Me and my mom were so close I would never be that close with father he seemed sad all the time even before my mom died! That's why I would never call my father dad it just seemed so unnatural and to call my mom mother felt even weirder.

I like to think I'm pretty close with Lydia but I know that's not the case. She thinks I haven't noticed that she calls me father instead of dad. At first I thought she said that because she thought it was cool but as soon as I saw her speaking to her mother as mom I knew she was scared of me.
Lydia
Boom hurricane Katrina was coming she was ripping through houses like there was no tomorrow I sat down under the floor boards with my father listing to the wireless radio filling us in on all the details of the hurricane. It was scary just hearing about it imagine seeing it!
John
I held Lydia in my arms I could feel her trembling. The radio announced that the hurricane had passed and it was fine to come of hiding. I was so relieved now it was time to see the damage. There were ruins everywhere you looked! There was a huge flood that had happened and the roof of our house was gone.We were in trouble!!!
