Chapter 6: Half day

Madelyn's POV

I was walking down the stairs when the doorbell rang. I really hoped it wasn't my aunt. I don't want her here and be nagging me about having a boyfriend too early in life. Again. I mean really? I am turning 18 in less than 2 months. I am practically an adult.

I opened the door with my bag on my shoulder, ready to go to school. I was heading out anyway so I took it as a chance to talk to that person as I was about to go to school.

To my delight it wasn't my aunt but it was...

"Hey! I missed you so much! You have no idea how long it took me to be able to come here. I didn't know where you lived so I had to ask your parents and they we're more than happy to give it to me." He said so enthusiastically as I walked out and locked the front door.

"I- uh – what... what are you doing here?" I stuttered.

I can't breathe properly. What in hell's name is he doing here!? I have enough drama going on in my life to fill an eternity. I certainly don't need any more for the rest of my life.

"Well I am here to bring you to school. And a little hello won't be that bad." I have a feeling that at the end of the day I might or might not be hated by the only person I loved more than family and more than a friend.

"Well I have to decline, I like walking to school." I said as I walked down the porch.

Then I started to walk in the direction of the school when I felt him walking beside me.

"What do you think your doing?" I asked him with hint of irritation evident in my voice.

"I am walking with my girl to school." He said so confidently.

"I was-am and never will be your girl." I stated and walked faster and in less than 5 minutes I was at the school gates.

I am so scared that people would start rumors, again. I really have had enough of the drama in life.

Suddenly someone covered my eyes and I was stunned that I became still as a tree.

"Did you miss me?"

That voice sent tingles down my spine, the good kind. Not the kind that made you want to run away. Just by standing near him, I remembered last night.

"Nope." I said flatly. I know I'm mean but I'm just teasing him. It was fun to tease him.

"Yeah? Well I don't care." His tone was coated with hurt. I cant believe this guy can act so tough around others but when it comes to me and his family he becomes a big softy like a big fluffy marshmallow.

I removed his hands and spun around so we were face to face. He was looking at anywhere but me.

"So it was payback." He muttered more to himself than to me.

I think I went a bit overboard with my joke that I actually made him think everything last night was just a fascade, a lie or a joke. Now he was looking down and I knew he was truly hurt.

I held his hand and he was obviously shocked that he looked deep into my eyes, just to see if I meant my actions.

"Hey, it was a joke okay? I meant my what I said last night."

Then he picked me up again and spun me around in the school parking lot. People were staring like they just saw a fairy tale come to life. Well it did come true for me. Most of the seniors were clapping and shouting 'finally', 'get a room', 'about time Nic' and 'be good to her'.

I really love my classmates and school mates. They make my life more dramatic than it already is...

I really hope Zyler won't show up.
