Annie's POV

It had been a few days since the "beach incident", as Jayden and I call it, and not much has happened. I'm assuming Kenzie doesn't know about it, since she hasn't mentioned it to me or anyone, which is good; I don't need to be starting drama.

Anyway, school stars in two days, and tonight our group was going to be having a last weekend of summer "party" on the beach (pretty ironic). The party starts at 7 and it's currently 4, so I still have some time.

"Why can't I come?" Hayley groaned as she stood behind me while I searched for something to wear.

"Because it's for us teenagers," I explained. "And besides, aren't you sleeping over at Txunamy's tonight?"

"Oh yeah," Hayley grinned. "Never mind, I don't want to go to your dumb party then."

I rolled my eyes at Hayley's comment as she skipped out of my bedroom. I closed the door and continued to search for something to wear.

I eventually decided on a black two piece, and to wear over it I picked out a white tank top and some jean shorts along with my flip flops. I laid the clothes out on my chair so I wouldn't have to find them again later.

To pass the time, I decided to film a video. I look through my list of video ideas and decided on filming a house tour, which did seem appropriate since we recently moved here.

After filming and editing, I got a FaceTime request from Jayden.

"Hey J," I greeted as I picked up. I set my phone down next to my computer so she could see me as I continued editing.

"Hey A, what's up?" she replied as she got into a car.

"I was bored so I filmed a house tour video, and I'm currently editing it. Where are you going?" I asked once I noticed she was in a car.

"I was going over to Kenzie's since she asked for me to come over," Jayden replied.

"She didn't ask me," I muttered out of both relief and a bit of jealousy.

"We had been planning to hang out just one-on-one for a while now, I'm sorry," Jayden quickly apologized.

"It's fine," I answered.

"You good?" she asked.

I shrugged. "Yeah, I guess, I'm actually just a bit nervous for tonight."

Jayden raised her eyebrows in a question face. "Why?" Once she realized, her eyes widened. "Oh!"

"Yeah, 'Oh!' is right," I replied. "I'm hoping it won't be awkward between Hayden and I."

"Just pretend like nothing ever happened," Jayden suggested. "You never know, he may do the same thing, especially if he doesn't want Kenzie suspecting something suspicious is going on."

"You've got a point," I said. "Thanks, J."

"Anytime, A," Jayden winked before unbuckling her seatbelt. "I'm pulling into Kenzie's driveway now. If you want, I could stop by your place first for a few minutes to say hi."

"It's fine, we'll see each other later anyway," I smiled.

"Okay then. See you later, Annie," Jayden smiled then hung up.

I looked out my bedroom window to see Jayden coming out of her car in Kenzie's driveway next door. Kenzie and her dog ran outside to greet her and they hugged before going inside. I then went back to editing my video and uploaded it before seeing it was now 6:15.

I closed my laptop and went over to my chair by my closet to grab my clothes. I quickly changed into my clothes and styled my hair into a side ponytail with a flower in it. Then I grabbed my beach bag and headed downstairs.
