This was nerve wracking. The anticipation building up from every second that I had to wait was eating me up and I couldn't stop from pacing up and down in front of the door of the house. I was picking at the skin around my nails and chewing the sides of my mouth. I had never been to other people's houses. I mean unless you counted going to my neighbour's every once in a while, and having tea and biscuits with them. But nothing of this magnitude.

I mean I knew me and Ryder were a thing but I hadn't quite ironed out all the details of what would happen next because I was too busy 'enjoying the moment' and not thinking ahead like I usually did and look what it lead to; my breathing sounding like I just ran a marathon, my shaking and fidgeting hands and the constant need to pace out of restlessness, not to mention my erratic heart beat and the bundle of endless nerves tingling in the pit of my stomach. Because if Ryder wanted me to meet his mom then this really was a big deal.

I mean I could hold a conversation, but I wasn't exactly sociable or talkative. Plus, my interaction skills would be highly pertinent in this case as to the impression I would leave.

"I'm so excited!" I heard a little voice shout as he was bobbing up and down near me.

I turned to him and smiled "I know you are baby, we don't really go to other people's houses much, do we?"

"No we don't! What will it be like?" he asked, his eyes trained on me waiting to hang on to my every word.

"Well there will be two boys there, twins. They are Ryder's little brothers and you will get to play with them" I smiled in anticipation knowing what would happen next.

Arlo's face lit up like he had been told that Santa was coming to especially gift him something because he had been extremely good this year.

"There's boys I can play with?!"

"Yes" I smiled, I hadn't told him before because I hadn't exactly been sure we would go because I was too nervous and I didn't want to have his expectations too high. But now that Ryder would be here any second there would be no harm in telling him.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang. SHIT. This was really happening. Deep breaths, Faith. Deep breaths.

I swung open the door hastily and the green eyes staring back at me calmed me a little along with the smile etched on his face that was from ear to ear. He was so excited, he mirrored Arlo's expression this very second.

"Hey, you ready?" he was dressed in a black shirt withe sleeves rolled up to his elbows and dark blue skinny jeans. His effort to be formal yet casual because this was a big deal to him made me smile despite all my messy emotions.

I forced a small smile out of myself "As ready as I will ever be"

The knots in my stomach tightened and I internally winced.

Ryder stepped past me and walked to Arlo bending down to his level "Are you ready little man?" while smiling at Arlo and holding his fist out for their signature handshake.

"Yes! Is it really true there will be boys there for me to play with?" as Arlo responded by bumping his fist to Ryder's and imitating an explosion.

"Yes, there names are Harry and Mason and they can't wait to play with you" Ryder smiled at Arlo with as much excitement as Arlo.

Seeing this exchange was loosening the knots in my stomach and calming every nerve ending in my body that were frantic just moments ago.

I smiled and sighed, I would never get tired of seeing the exchanges between my two favourite people. It was like watching your favourite movie again and again, but it always feeling like the first time.
