I walk down the street as the cold Colorado air nips at my nose and ears. People chatter in the distance, but i barely hear them over my sobbing. My cheek stings and a bruise forms around my eye.
Turning the corner, I find myself in an alley. I lean against the brick wall behind me. I wipe my mascara-smeared eyes on my tattered sleeves. I slide down so I am sitting with my knees against my chest. I curl my body up for warmth.
That's when I realize... I'm homeless and alone.
