~Dan's POV~

"Dan, is that you?" Phil mutters.

"Yes, Phil, it's me, your friend Danny boi." I say to try and cover up the quiet sobs leaving my mouth. I hate seeing him like this. I should try and cheer him up. I attempt doing jazz hands but then remember his eyes are closed.

He chuckles as he pries open his eyelids. "I couldn't see you, but don't think I didn't know that you were doing jazz hands."

I smile and pretend to be in mock distress, pantomiming choking myself and yelling out, "you caught me."

Phil laughs, but then he gets serious. "Dan, I really think we need to figure out what to do," he says, looking at me with his blue eyes, like pools of ice.

"Yeah, our viewers are going to freak out when they hear you've been injured. I think we need to tell them. Should I upload a video on your channel? You know, to explain things?"

"I think you should, and I also think you should tell everyone that you're going to stop the gaming channel until I've fully recovered. After all, it is DanandPhilGAMES," Phil jokes.

"How long is that?" I wonder aloud, not realizing I've said that out loud until Phil sighs in frustration.

"I dunno. I feel kind of weak, and I get tired easily... excuse me, do you know about how long I'll be here?" Phil asks a passing nurse.

"Let's see, you're Phil aren't you? I've been assigned to this room, so I should have your information somewhere...," she says, grabbing a clipboard and flipping through it. "Um... about two weeks and then you'll be fine." She smiles at Phil and she giggles at me. I tug my sleeve uncomfortably.

"So, Phil," I say quickly, "we'll tell them it'll be no time until you come out of the hospital so they don't worry, right?"

"Yes, and make sure to be your usual sarcastic, unpleasant self," Phil teases me.

"Hey, watch it, Mr. Clumsy," I joke. We laugh, and for a second while my eyes are closed, I almost think things might be normal.

   Almost.

"Should we tell them we made out when you were in the hospital to give them something to talk about?"

"Yeah, the phandom's gonna love that," Phil says. As we laugh together, I realize that I think that might not be such a bad thing... it would be interesting....

Stop it, Dan, I lecture myself, Phil's your best friend, nothing more.

But as we look into each other's eyes, I imagine myself getting lost in those blue-grey irises, and my heart flutters, skipping a beat. I quickly avert my gaze, instead playing around with the hem of my t-shirt.

It's Phil who interrupts the intimate silence, miming weird kissing motions, and we dissolve into laughter yet again. I don't think he noticed the weird things I was feeling, and that's good, as I plan to never feel them again. He's my friend.

~Phil's POV~

"We can do this, Dan," I say, taking his hand with both of mine. "It's just two weeks, and then I'll be just like my old self.

He nods, licking his lips. "I sure hope we can," he says. I can hear the desperation in his voice, and it warms my heart that he would care this deeply. To lighten the mood, I say, "after all, nothing can trump the Danosaur! Dani... snot... on fire," I say, grinning evily.

"Oh no you didn't," he says in mock anger. We laugh and exchange Phandom jokes before the nurse tells Dan to leave. I fall asleep and dream of llamas, dinosaurs, and hanging out with Dan. The last dream I have before descending into a deeper sleep is a memory, of Dan taking my hand as we walk through the streets of London, the sky glittering with stars.
